Video controls are small - How to resize?

I just got a new computer and every video I've watched the video controls (play button, video timeline, expand, etc) are all very small, on every website and on different video players. The video player size is fine, just not the controls. I've tried changing the resolution, it just changes the screen size, doesn't work. IE video controls seem to ok, but Firefox is where the issue is.

Laptop is a HP Envy 14 sleekbook.

I have gone through this entire discussion and I am quite surprised and disappointed that Microsoft engineers have not understood the basic problem that has been repeatedly pointed out by the original posted. Instead, they have given tons of other solutions, all of which have been tried by the original poster and have not worked - his original problem remains unresolved.

I am posting here because I came to this thread after facing the exact same problem. I purchased a new Del XPS 13 (2015) touch screen last month with Windows 8.1. I was extremely surprised to see the TINY buttons in Windows Media Player and VLC Player. These playback buttons are SO small they simply cannot be used. This does not seem to be a problem with resolution, drivers or screen settings - as all 3 are optimally set for my new laptop.

To help the Microsoft engineers understand this problem (since they could not fully understand it when the original poster shared it) I am attaching 3 screenshots where I have highlighted the problem in red and yellow boxes.

It seems to be a problem in the applications and how they are configured on Windows 8.1

Better get used to it or practise using the Magnifier or Zoom.  IMO it is going to get worse in W10.  Fortunately less of a problem if you have an electronic stylus or mouse.   May be a nightmare for users of Touch only or capacitive pens.

Wow, what a truly horrendous situation and poor performance by Microsoft.

Yes, thankfully I have a wireless mouse. But even then it is quite a task navigating these miniscule controls

OP here, good to see others have this problem too and it's not just my computer manufacturer, it's W8. Also shame on MS if this problem is going to get worse but if it is, enough people are going to report it as a major bug. This is unacceptable and no, using the magnifying glass is not an acceptable solution, it's an annoyance. I also would like to report not only small buttons but video players online in my web browser, and other computer media players are small as well.

I am using Windows 10 on a newly bought ASUS laptop and am facing the same issue with the size of the video controls. Did the previous people facing this problem find any fix for it? What did you people do to get around this problem?
