I hate to be the one black sheep here, but I have a feeling that file is important as some type of sync file between OneDrive on the PC and online. It may be an indexer or some type of history tracker to ensure that files are synced properly based on where and when it is modified. Unless there is a problem like gil6269 had, in which case you can troubleshoot by deleting the file to refresh it, you really shouldn't mess with files that are hidden that you have no idea what it is... as long as your good and reputable antivirus application doesn't flag it as something bad and you don't have performance issues, who cares?? Just ignore it as it is clearly hidden for a reason.

Basically i agree with you on hidden files

BUT

something in very annoying with this new hidden file as it is considered bu Windows10 as a user counted file !

ie.

1. before moving to Windows10  i secured copies of all my files and (ie.)

• i had 4000 files in  C/User/username/OneDrive

-  and i had 4000 files on the saved location in the USB key

2. after Windows10 was installed  i discovered

• i have  4001 files (one file more) in C/User/username/OneDrive.
• Why?
• Then i discovered that this hidden file as considered/counted as a user file (directory properties)  and this is incorrect.

3. using Windows10

• if i save a copy of C/User/username/OneDrive (4000 files) the program stops and says : (see at the bottom of the picture below)
• hidden file is currently in use by MS OneDrive

and you just need to select "ignore" BUT the count of saved files is now 3099 files !!!!!!

• this confirms point 2)

Is it possible to inform Microsoft on this wrong qualification file on this hidden file ?

Have had same feeling, doesn't seem to be causing any problems. Decided to leave it alone. I have it on 2 laptops but not on my tablet. Thanks.

If you exit onedrive the file disappears from the folder, load onedrive up again and it re-appears. It can't be that bad unless its hanging the sync, but I can't see how.

It does takes ages to process changes so be patient if you delete or add files for syncing.

My final concern is that this specific hidden file is incorrectly counted by Microsoft as a customer file in the OneDrive directory properties.

In the facts the situation is :

Ie. : C:/user/Onedrive properties reports, 2345 records. In reality this is the sum of 2344 user files +this hidden file !!!

If you dont know of this

and you make copy/paste of the OneDrive directory to a USB key,

and you see that the USB properties reports 2344 files only ,

you may spend time to check why there is a difference of 1 unit (this mades me discover why)

Hopefully the hidden is not copied.

Being cartesian, if i copy a directory that the properties said it contains 2345 files, i should normally recover 2345 files copied and not 2344 files.

Is there a way to submit this to Microsoft?
