    No help whatsoever - the question was how or where can I download the app not send me a link to more useless microsoft rubbish

    It is not optional if it's required to get the Windows 10 upgrade.  Nor was I ever asked about it when I downloaded and installed 8.1.  

    And I love the runaround from Microsoft - 

    "This is missing.  Where do I get it?"

    "Read this article on how to get it."

    Just a heads up, geniuses at Microsoft: when someone asks where to get something that should have already been included in a download, they are NOT asking to be directed to an article!  Point them directly to a download so they can do what they need to do and get on with their lives.

    OMG. This totally worked for me! Brand new 8.1 install, I did a bunch of Windows Updates to get up to speed, and couldn't see the icon. Removed the update you suggested, and now it works. Thanks so much!

    what a useless sad load we find at the microsoft support centre

    why can't they just provide a download link?

    because it's too easy and they can string us all along for months supporting the support system

    they make me feel poorly

    just like the dinosaurs; they'll think all is fine until the morning they just don't wake up.
