Mailing list groups in Windows 10 Mail

I recently upgraded to Windows 10. I had been using Hotmail/outlook.com for my email. After the upgrade, I found my contacts but all of my mailing lists were gone. I checked the People app, but there was nothing there to help me create groups.

Is there a way to recover or create mailing lists now that I have upgraded?

In order to get this needed feature added we need to create momentum and you can help in this way!  But Microsoft will not even see this here because it is mostly staffed by volunteers who give our time to help others.

There is NO option to create groups but there is a work around, using the Mail and People app together.

To create the group:  In Mail, create New Mail, open the cc/bcc field and insert all the addresses for the particular group.

When completed (with the mouse pointer at the end), right click and select 'select all'.  For some reason you can't right click and select copy but you can copy with ctrl+c. Now, open the People app, create new contact, give the group a name and paste the copied names into an email field, I use the 'Other' option and click the SAVE button.

To use the group: Mail app - New mail, click bcc field or whatever, open the People app, snap it left or right, find your group name, click on it, on the right hand side you will see all your group addresses, right click and copy, go back to mail, right click and paste.

I don't know the limitations of this (and there probably is).  None of my groups have more than 10 names in them.

I am a Microsoft support engineer and I want to gather more feedback from you in regards to the issue that users cannot send emails to multiple contacts in People App, so I can drive a feature request with Windows engineering group.

    Creating email groups in Windows 10

    I agree that it is utterly unforgiveable for Microsoft to exclude group creation in Win 10 but I have finally figured out a  way around it - it's tricky but it works. The secret is to activate Windows Live and Outlook Mail to use 1. Outlook People instead of People App and 2. Outlook Mail instead of the Mail App in Windows10. Try this:

    Outlook People App

    . Click Cortana search box and type "people.live.com", enter, to open "Outlook People" window. 

    . Click the Down Arrow next to 'New', select Contact list to open 'List name'  and 'Add members' options. Click 'List name'

    . Type name of new group in box and add members by typing name(s) from contacts, Save

    . Click top right drop down menu (...) and 'Pin to Start menu' and voila it's there

    . Open new App to find your new group in your contacts. (Win 10 People App can now be unpinned)

    Outlook Mail App

    . Type "windows live-outlook mail" in Cortana search box, enter

    . Select Outlook Mail under Windows Live Sync. This will sync and open your Mailbox straightaway

    . Click top right drop down menu (...) to pin Outlook Mail to start menu and voila, this will sync with your Outlook People App. (Win 10 Mail App can now be unpinned). 

    Outlook Mail will only work with Outlook People. Try it out. Good luck!

    Lame Lame Lame Lame Lame. How can Microsoft software be so lame? You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Seriously. What ****. No groups in Mail? So it's a second rate thing not fit for release. "Workaround" for Mail doesn't cut it and Outlook is ugly and overkill for my routine needs, so don't suggest that.

    MICROSOFT ARE YOU LISTENING!!!!!!  This should have been fixed before the new 10 version came out, but NO you just keep finding ways to make us pay for things that used to come bundled with your damn computers!  I am sick of seeing the notice telling me my Word subscription is expiring on Jan. 4, 2017 and that most of the features will be disabled unless I reactivate.  Scare tactics I don't like!!!  Start fixing things that people have already paid for when they purchased their top dollar computers that came with mega memories and programs (or apps as they are called now).

    I am just a home computer person...not a huge business, or a business at all.  I don't want to pay for every damn thing on a monthly basis or subscribe to a yearly payment for things I barely use (Adobe PDF, for example, which I unfortunately got stuck with for a year)!

    Just fix things that should already be a working part of Windows 10 please!
