For the passed few days I have been trying to get into my Netflix app, however the app refused to load. So I decided to uninstall it and then reinstall to try and fix the problem. But every time I try to reinstall the app I receive the error code 0x80070057. Any idea how to fix this? I am currently using Windows 8.1 and waiting for my Windows 10 update.

Facing the same thing with Netflix on Windows 8.1. Works on all my other Windows 8.1 systems, unfortunately this computer says it's not compatible with Windows 10, so I can't upgrade it. Need MS or Netflix to fix this issue on Windows 8.1.
I've tried all the other troubleshooting steps, no luck.
I've had the same problem with Netflix app after a clean install.

I've had this problem with a clean install of win 8.1 pro on a new notebook for a couple of days. I even did a second clean install and it persists. However, it does not occur at all on my Surface Pro 3.
Searching online is useless. Every recommendation is to reset the windows store cache (wsreset.exe), which does nothing. or conduct an sfc scan, or DSIM. None of those have worked for me.
Installing Silverlight got me past the error for a bit, but the Netflix app still wouldn't install and just hung at "pending." After a reboot, I was back to error 0x80070057.
In the Event Viewer, however, I found the following errors in Applications and Services Logs-->Microsoft-->Windows-->AppXDeployment-Server-->Microsoft-Windows-AppXDeploymentServer/Operational:
Windows cannot install package 4DF9E0F8.Netflix because package Microsoft.Media.PlayReadyClient was provided but not used. This could be because package 4DF9E0F8.Netflix does not depend on Microsoft.Media.PlayReadyClient. Only the packages that package 4DF9E0F8.Netflix depends on can be installed.
Deployment Register operation on Package 4DF9E0F8.Netflix_2.12.0.10_x64__mcm4njqhnhss8 from: (C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_2.12.0.10_x64__mcm4njqhnhss8\AppxManifest.xml) failed with error 0x80070057. error 0x80073CF9: AppX Deployment operation failed. The specific error text for this failure is: Windows cannot install package 4DF9E0F8.Netflix because package Microsoft.Media.PlayReadyClient was provided but not used. This could be because package 4DF9E0F8.Netflix does not depend on Microsoft.Media.PlayReadyClient. Only the packages that package 4DF9E0F8.Netflix depends on can be installed.
So clearly there is some sort of issue involving Microsoft's PlayReady DRM. Following the link in the second error above, Microsoft's troubleshooting says:
One or more arguments are not valid If you check the AppXDeployment-Server event log and see the following event; “While installing the package, the system failed to register the windows.repositoryExtension extension due to the following error: The parameter is incorrect.”
You may get this error if the manifest elements DisplayName or Description contain characters disallowed by Windows firewall; namely “|” and “all”, due to which Windows fails to create the AppContainer profile for the package . Please remove these characters from the manifest and try installing the package.
Disabling windows firewall doesn't allow the install, but from this I'm guessing that Netflix did something to their app (maybe for Windows 10?) that introduced this error.
