Didn't work for me, unfortunately.

This happened to me too and hour after hour, after hour, after hour, after hour, after hour, after hour, after hour, after hour, after hour of trying the 101 different "fixes" for this that did NOT work.... I finally got Netflix installed back on Win 8.1.

I will spare everyone the process of having to get the Netflix file because for me to get it myself I had to install Windows 10 (since Netflix won't install from the Windows Store on 8.1), capture the URL of the  installation file, download that file, then reinstall Windows 8.1 & install Netflix using that file instead of going through the obviously broken Windows Store on 8.1. I asked many different people on several different forums if they would be so kind as to spend 10 minutes of their time to grab to file for me so I wouldn't have to reinstall my entire OS twice in a row- but unfortunately no one was willing.

Anyway, here's the file you will need:

Edit: The above file is for x64/64bit versions of Windows ONLY. An x86/32bit version will be posted later.

Once you have downloaded it, I would recommend placing it in the root of your hard drive to make the next step easier.

Since you now have the file you will need to run Windows Powershell as an Administrator. (Right click on Windows PowerShell and select "Run as Administrator")

Now in the PowerShell window enter in the following command including the quotes:

Add-AppxPackage -Path "C:\netflix"

(Make sure the part in quotes points to where you have the Netflix file on your PC. In the root of any drive makes it easier as stated above.)

After it finishes you can close PowerShell and Netflix should be installed. Enjoy Netflix again on 8.1 because Microsoft obviously can't be bothered with fixing it for over three weeks now.

Edit: If it fails/errors with red text, go to the Windows Store and install 'VLC for Windows 8' then run the command in PowerShell again. The reason it would error is because it would be missing some dependencies. Installing VLC from the store would install the ones required for Netflix to be installed.

Hi all I was having the same problem since after I'd downgraded from Windows 10. Am back on Win 8.1 but several apps like the Music, Video & Netflix in Windows Store all refused to update with error 0x80070057.

After checking & ensuring permission is set to default to SYSTEM, I keyed in the command he provided & rebooted.

Initially tried to update but it failed with same error but I waited for about 5 minutes before I tried again. When in Windows Store, I swiped charm bar on the right, Settings & selected Apps Update, then Check for Updates icon. Then the apps started to Download & got updated successfully.
