Unable to uninstall update KB2952664

My Win 7 64bit laptop recently installed update KB2952664, which sent everything to a grinding halt. Through a combination of research and spending a whole weekend uninstalling different updates I pinned down the problem to this update.

I can uninstall the update, which brings the laptop back to life, but it immediately shows up again in the installed updates panel. If I restart the laptop after uninstalling the update the problem immediately returns.

Why is the update magically reappearing and how do I remove it for good?

    no command line to block KB2952664 ?

    It came back immedialty  every reboot. Can't choose to hide.

    Hello PA Bear MSMVP I have tried the steps above  but under install updated its still showing KB2952664 as 6/6/2015 every time I time I uninstall it seems reload it I even tried hide it what else can I try

    Let's see if we can outsmart Windows Update! <wink>

    1. Uninstall KB2952664 again, if need be.

    2a. Open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/windows-update-error-8000ffff [ignore the title & references to Vista].

    2b. Ignoring any "Not recommended" or similar warnings, run Fix It (#50202) in DEFAULT and then AGGRESSIVE modes. [1]

    1. Reboot then immediately run another manual check for updates & hide KB2952664 once more.
    2. Reply to this post with a status report.

    [1] Full Disclosure: Running the Fix It in AGGRESSIVE mode will delete your Update History but not the list of Installed Updates.

    I have hid it in the update list, but it seems to be still force installing itself somehow.

    No matter how many times I uninstall it it just immediately reappears in the list.

    So it's almost as if the uninstall process isn't working. It goes through the process of uninstalling (i.e. it says its uninstalling and a green bar moves along to show it's working and then confirms uninstallation) but nothing happens to reinstall it. I just refresh the list of installed updates and it's immediately right back there.

    Any ideas how I can hunt it down in the file system and registry and remove it manually?

    Or is there something else that's causing it to behave like this?

    KB2952664 is an optional, non-security update (yes, even though it may be offered as an Importantupdate). Feel free to hide it & move on with your life.

    1. Uninstall KB2952664 & reboot, then...
    2. IMMEDIATELY run a manual check for updates & hide KB2952664 before Automatic Updates can install it again.
