'Battery Alert' appears before the 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.', however, ' Cooling Fan Alert' appears after 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.'

Hi,

First of all: I know that I have been having a problem with my HP Laptop Battery, and with its cooling Fan.

However, I am now wondering what detected this error below as long as it was shown even before  the notification saying 'the press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' Thus, if the BIOS detected that there was a problem with the HP Battery storage', then this error should have been listed after 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' was passed.

'HP Battery Alert:    The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.'

That alert lasted about 15 seconds, and then the 'press 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.' is shown.

Next: This is error below showed me::

'The system didn't detect that a cooling fan is operating correctly'

I know that BIOS detected that a problem with 'Cooling Fan' since the Alert of error was shown after passing 'press 'ESC' key for Start-up menu.'

Any comments would be highly appreciated

    Thanks a lot,

    Yes, I am now runing a lot cooler. However, I am asking in the future(if this problelm comes again). So, could you please reply to my points below?

    1- Yes, but  any new fan/heat sink will have a pre-applied thermal compound on the contact surfaces to CPU and GPU. However,  CPU and GPU surfaces on system board don't have. So, I will need to do new thermal compound onto CPU and GPU  surfaces . So, the thermal compounds will be definitely  different types.

    So, as long as I don't know what kind of thermal compound pre-applied on new fan/heat sink, how to apply new thermal compound onto CPU and GPU surfaces.

    Or otherwise, you either want me to only mount the new fan/ heat sink onto the CPU and GPU without applying any new thermal compound onto CPU and GPU, or you want me to remove the pre-applied thermal compound from the contact surfaces to CPU and GPU on the new heat sink and apply new thermal compound.

    Try using the pre-applied compound 1st, if that does not provide any improvement or is less effective in cooling your CPU and GPU, then remove the pre-applied compound and use what you currently applied to your original heat sink.

    2- I was thinking about cutting off appendages of new GPU heat sink hoping to get the new fan/ heats sink corresponds to CPU and GPU.  But also it will still not correspond to GPU on motherboard since if CPU heat sink corresponds to CPU, then GPU heat sink doesn't correspond to GPU, and vise versa. If it doesn't fit then don't waste you time and effort.

    3- You do NOT think seller is stupid? Although I have sent the spare part number of my old fan/heat sink to the seller before purchasing the fan/heat sink that I need, unfortunately the new fan/ heat sink assembly purchased from eBay was not fitted to my motherboard?

    Ebay seller ratings vary from very good to very bad; check the seller's rating.

    4- As long as the fan installed on the new heat sink is similar to and fitted to my old fan and heat sink, I think that new heat sink is for the same HP Pavilion Notebook, Dv6. But I don't now why the heat sink is not fitted. It may be a generic heat sink that the seller had in stock designed to fit multiple models but unfortunately not your model.

    Again if your system is running OK (No overheating warnings) I would leave what you have in place and don't try making any changes.
