Windows RT upgrade to Windows 10

I agree 100%.  I have given up waiting. I've been too patient in the past with 3 other devices that were useless soon after launch from MS and this is the most costly. Track record for info is very bad and the millions with RT do deserve to find out what they are going to be offered since there is no decent trade in offer for them and some bought in to the ARM and cross compatibility mumbo jumbo. Now the devices are taboo and worthless too. I gave up after being around since the MS-OS/2 days and bought some different hardware, but will keep the RT for lack of any way to get rid of it just to see what does come down the road for it. The lack of info is very scary considering how many MS devices seemingly were forgotten and ignored in what should have been their prime.

Also, it's already being reported that the new gen. apps wont even run on it - what is the good of keeping it really.

Not quite sure what you mean by "integrated the rt's ability for arm cpu's into the full windows 10 " as they are completely different code sets. Nothing that natively runs on ARM will run on x86 just as much as the other way round.

You can make them both capable of running the same applications which is the ethos behind Universal Apps but the operating system itself has to by definition be written for the processor it is intended to run on.

What makes Microsoft's attitude for RT less comprehensible is that there is

an ARM build in existence i.e. the Phone build. Not only that but there is also a build for the Raspberry Pi albeit with limited functionality.

It is difficult to see Microsoft taking on Android given its price point, if a buyer is only willing to pay peanuts they have to put up with simian software. In its 1st iteration RT was an iPad beater and as such a much more viable target, they gave up far

too easily. Not only that but they end up developing for iOS, incomprehensible!

 

With their announcement and trials of the new Windows 10ARM32 version, in principle would it run on the Surface 2 Specs: Surface 2 uses a 1.7 GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4 chipset with 2 GB of RAM - just wondering...?

Anyone got any thoughts?

Apparently the new Windows version has an emulator for running on ARM based processors (link to MS video below) I'm a layman but wondered if anyone thought this version might be made to work on the Surface 2 : https://channel9.msdn.com/Events/Build/2017/P4171

It was stated that Windows RT will NOT get Windows 10 in January this year and as far as we know that is still the case. What Microsoft have said is some of the features in Windows 10 will be provided for RT but that stops a long way short of a full blown OS upgrade.

It still leaves questions as to when and precisely what?

There are reports that Microsoft will be offering an upgrade of Windows RT to Windows 10 this month (September 15).

Is this true? If not please can you offer an update on the statement given 6+ months ago?
