KB3035583 Installing Windows 10 using Windows Update?

Microsoft should not be unhiding any update. As far as I know, this has not happened before. You can be sure any updates that are needed will be reviewed with a fine tooth comb.

Also any updates I have needed to uninstall have been done offline.

Another thing you can do is turn off your Customer Experience Improvement Participation (CEIP) settings.  These settings allow your computer to feed data to Microsoft.  I doubt they really use that data to improve Windows 7.  To do this:

There are programs in your computer that absolutely need to be updated and should when they are offered, at least that is what I advise to my clients.  These updates for the most part, fix security holes, and will make your computer safer.   Some of them are:

Java, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, your antivirus program (although that should be taking place without your intervention). 

Please do continue to use Windows Update, but do it with judgment.

That CEIP is another reminder that's needed, so thanks again. I read on another site today that there are individual CEIP'S for many of Windows programs and the need to uncheck each if not wanted. Will post that asap.

I agree with updating the other applications you listed as they update quite often.

Regarding CEIP and the following:

The updates in question are KB3068708, KB3022345, KB3075249, and KB3080149, and you can find their full description in the box after the jump.

Basically, once you install any or all these

updates, Microsoft can start data collection from your Windows 7 or 8.1

computer in the same way it does on Windows 10.

If you don't want these and already installed them, then "But the best way to prevent data tracking if the updates are already

installed on your computer is to remove them completely, so go to

Control Panel > View installed updates and remove all the four

updates mentioned above."

Additionally, you can remove them faster by

launching a command prompt window with administrator privileges and

typing in the following commands one by one:

wusa /uninstall /kb:3068708 /quiet /norestart

wusa /uninstall /kb:3022345 /quiet /norestart

wusa /uninstall /kb:3075249 /quiet /norestart

wusa /uninstall /kb:3080149 /quiet /norestart

Once you do that, you should also hide the updates to make sure that they won't be reinstalled after you reboot the computer.

I'm wondering if other KB's can be removed by using the command prompt, i.e. the perpetual KB3035583 and others? Comments welcome!!

Important for those that have already have Windows 10 Installed and may want to go back to Windows 7. I can't verify the following is true, since I haven't had time to check with Microsoft. However, it's worth finding out.

Scenario 4

If you simply do not want to have Windows 10 or it is not compatible with some of your hardware and software then just revert back to your previous operating system.

Be aware there is one caveat to this process and that is you must do it

within 30 days of upgrading to Windows 10 or the capability will be gone

because your old Windows installation related files will be

automatically removed from the upgraded system.
