KB3035583 Installing Windows 10 using Windows Update?

Would you please tell me how to prevent the installation of KB3035583 in my computer and if it is already installed, how to remove it?  Also, are there other updates that we need to be concerned about that enable this behaviour?

KB3035583 now appears as an Important update in Windows Update and is checked which means it will be automatically installed if the user does not uncheck it.  If automatic update is set, it will install without intervention.

There are credible articles that say that Microsoft either has installed or will install changes to my computer that will enable Microsoft to use it as an advertising platform and then install Windows 10 without first obtaining an informed decision to do so.  I truly hope this is not true.

On behalf of my clients and their 162 Windows "consumer" computers, I must tell you that we do not grant Microsoft or any other vendor the right to do this.  When other Windows players do this, we regard it as malware and take great care to remove it.

Microsoft got to where it is today by selling Windows.  We have spent decades learning how to use Windows and billions of dollars buying Windows computers and Windows software.  We own these systems.  They are ours, not Microsoft's.

Windows Update has earned a huge trust.  We trust Microsoft to use Windows Update to keep our computers safe and secure.  When Patch Tuesday comes along we install all the updates that Microsoft says are "important." We assume those to be either plugging a security leak or fixing a software error.

We all hope Windows 10 will be something we will want.  We will carefully review and consult trusted advisors before we install Windows 10.  We have seen Windows 8 and rejected it.  Windows 8 is a bad product we did not choose.  

Automatically installing Windows 10 on our computers would be a severe abuse of a well-earned trust.  Changing our computers to enable them to become advertising platforms is also an abuse.

    If I suggest you stick your head in the fire , you don't have to do it

    I know nothing about computers I admit that , so for years I had problems with Trojans and viruses etc , I saw on here that people were recommending manually installing updates ,selecting updates , or just blocking them completely , I chose the latter , I do not get hacked ,I no longer get Trojans or viruses

    So for me turning them off completely was the best thing for me , FOR ME ! I don't know nor care if other people want to install them , I only know what I am happy with,As for dangerous , nobody will die as a result of blocking updates

    that's just my own opinion

    I am surprised people don't know about the periodic security updates ?

    I just get a little icon "Virus protection is out of date upgrade now" (bottom right hand corner of the screen) every few weeks , I click on it and it Quick scans my files etc and corrects / removes anything that shouldn't be there , there is also an option for a full scan which I use now and again

    Everything is rosy in my garden now , so why should I go back to days of rebooting ,re installing ,system restoring ,resetting my "puter" to factory setting ,losing all my stored stuff ?

    I keep getting junk from MS telling me they haven't updated my "puter" for 30 days etc ,telling me to upgrade to windows10 and other related junk

    They have however managed to start messing with my Internet explorer it seems to be IE11 ,I don't know how I ended up with it but it is messing up Ebay ,which Ebay are aware of

    But that is another thread ,for another day ( which is already up and running)

    As you have neglected to describe the device further then a 32gb machine, it may be best to leave the device at the operating system it came with. If you do want to see if it can be upgraded, please consider posting a new question in an appropriate forum.

    Not sure what the purpose of this thread is anymore.  It seems like a Win10 bashfest.   I don't care what operating system you like, but In a novice forum, the suggestion to turn off Windows Updates is beyond ridiculous.  OK Andrew I will bite, what are the free monthly scans you speak of?

    And especially if computers are not your thing, please don't suggest the turning off of Windows updates, is a good thing..... It is very dangerous!!!!!!

    It's not about not being able to upgrade a 32gb machine. It's about the fact that the machine does not have the drivers to run Windows 10.

    I have read in the Daily Telegraph and elsewhere that MS is going to download W10 forcibly to every computer 'so the customer will have it ready for when he decides to upgrade'.

    After that you will have to decline a prompt to upgrade every time you log in.

    They said it was going to happen in 2016. Just a little warning for those who find prompts that won't go away tiresome or those who have tablets with 32gb drives.
