KB3035583 Installing Windows 10 using Windows Update?

The functional difference between Check... but let me choose and Never check is that the former will initiate scheduled checks and the latter will not. Thus, Check will show any available updates that have been found since you last opened WU (and may notify you through the Action Centre icon in your notification area, depending on your settings), while Never will only show available updates when you manually check in WU.

Some may prefer the convenience of being notified and not having to wait for WU to check when they open it, others (like myself) may prefer only checking for updates when we are ready to research (and subsequently install or hide) them. Barring the future possibility of Microsoft exploiting the Check option, I don't see any bigger difference between them than that.

I agree. That is what I did.

Whether the information about Check But Let Me Choose is 100% correct is something I am undecided about but Never Check removes the need to worry about it.

The main difference between them that I do know of is that Check But Let Me Choose prompts you when there are updates available but Never does not seem to.

However for those who check regularly that is not an issue.

At the present time I know of no reason not to accept Security Updates, and plenty of reason to do so.  As you know, there are others here who know a great deal more about this subject than I do.  We all benefit from their sharing what works for them, and also from the critiques of the various methods that are put forward.  As I have posted above, the combination of setting Windows Update to NEVER, manually checking for updates around the first of each month and installing only the Security Updates, and installing and keeping current GWX Control Panel and Spybot Anti-Beacon works for me.

Hi wdburt1 , I cannot believe that these so called computer savvy people , cannot grasp what is being explained here and constantly having to be repeated .I myself know nothing of computers ,all I expect from them is when I turn it on , it works ,when this stopped happening ,as I have said many times , it took me two whole days to rectify

And the only way I rectified it , was by typing in "KB3035583 how do I get rid of it"because this "virus, and to me that's what it was  ,as it had let itself into MY computer without my permission ,had started to destroy everything , I was until then , taking for granted

Even my system restore failed instantly ,actually quoting KB3035583 as the reason ,to me this was worse (and harder to remove ,than any virus / Trojan that I had ever had to deal with previous

Only with the help and expertise of people on this thread was I able to take back control of MY computer ,Which I paid for

I since June have enforced a 100% total block on Windows updates , and despite repeated requests from my computer ,and the pro windows 10 brigade,, I will never let another single windows update into my computer again , unless this Windows 10 madness ceases

I would rather throw it away and buy another one ,(alternative) than bow down to MS

As I have also said many times ,My computer has never run better its fantastic, fast ,smooth,no pop ups ,no spam,no adverts, I feel I am for the first time in total control over the item I purchased
