KB3035583 Installing Windows 10 using Windows Update?

Would you please tell me how to prevent the installation of KB3035583 in my computer and if it is already installed, how to remove it?  Also, are there other updates that we need to be concerned about that enable this behaviour?

KB3035583 now appears as an Important update in Windows Update and is checked which means it will be automatically installed if the user does not uncheck it.  If automatic update is set, it will install without intervention.

There are credible articles that say that Microsoft either has installed or will install changes to my computer that will enable Microsoft to use it as an advertising platform and then install Windows 10 without first obtaining an informed decision to do so.  I truly hope this is not true.

On behalf of my clients and their 162 Windows "consumer" computers, I must tell you that we do not grant Microsoft or any other vendor the right to do this.  When other Windows players do this, we regard it as malware and take great care to remove it.

Microsoft got to where it is today by selling Windows.  We have spent decades learning how to use Windows and billions of dollars buying Windows computers and Windows software.  We own these systems.  They are ours, not Microsoft's.

Windows Update has earned a huge trust.  We trust Microsoft to use Windows Update to keep our computers safe and secure.  When Patch Tuesday comes along we install all the updates that Microsoft says are "important." We assume those to be either plugging a security leak or fixing a software error.

We all hope Windows 10 will be something we will want.  We will carefully review and consult trusted advisors before we install Windows 10.  We have seen Windows 8 and rejected it.  Windows 8 is a bad product we did not choose.  

Automatically installing Windows 10 on our computers would be a severe abuse of a well-earned trust.  Changing our computers to enable them to become advertising platforms is also an abuse.

    I have to say that I don't see much difference between never and let me choose. If the users of never check the accummulated updates regularly, it amounts to the same thing as let me choose. In both cases you are filtering out what you don't want.

    The question is whether let me choose lets some through with the possibility to filter. I haven't seen that yet. I have however seen KB3035583 unhide itself after an update that very conveniently reset the Windows Update settings when I had it on let me choose (I think).

    Last October, I worked on a friend's Win7 and  the  setting "let me choose" did not prevent the downloads. She had a friend that had Win8.1 and she had the Win10 downloaded unwanted by the way. On my own Win7, the Win10 did not download, but I received the icon in my sys. tray.

    Another friend has Win7 and they got the full blown Win10 of 5-6GB and I gave them Canadian Tech's instructions to solve the issue.

    Setting Win Updates to Never is the only way.

    I have read in the Daily Telegraph and elsewhere that MS is going to download W10 forcibly to every computer 'so the customer will have it ready for when he decides to upgrade'.

    After that you will have to decline a prompt to upgrade every time you log in.

    They said it was going to happen in 2016. Just a little warning for those who find prompts that won't go away tiresome or those who have tablets with 32gb drives.

    Windows 10 has been changed to a ‘recommended’ upgrade - from an optional one.

    If

    your Windows 7 or 8 machine is set to automatically install recommended

    items (the default setting), it will download several gigabytes of

    The change only affects home customers, not business users

    Any other KBs we should be looking for?

     Since KB2952664 was released in April 2014, I have blocked (hidden) it and every other update to Windows Update (because Microsoft is clearly making undocumented changes to Windows Update in order to get Windows 10 installed).

    If the description for a KB update says it is for Windows Update, I hide the update.

    Here is my list of stopped KBs.

    3035583

    3102429

    3123862

    3135449

    2976978 was released as an Optional and as a Recommended. You need to make sure neither are on your machine.

    I chose these by googling the numbers and reading websites highlighting which ones were likely to reduce the functionality of my machines.

    Any other KBs we should be looking for?

    EDIT:

    KB3102429 doesn't seem to be "Anti-W10 mission" critical.

    Couldn't find a detailed information about KB3135449. MS says "This update contains some improvements to Windows Update Client in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2.", ie. no information at all, except Windows versions.
