Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 Adapter Error 43

Hi all

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

Now my atheros bluetooth driver does not work properly.

I contacted the windows ask desk and they started to help, they got so far then said i needed premium help at the massive cost of £95 which i declined.

The help soon ended.

The point is that it all worked fine on windows 7 so it must be something to do with windows 10.

Details: i run windows 10 on my Lenovo g580 laptop

If i go to device manager the Qualcom Atheros AR3011 bluetooth driver 3.0 has a yellow warning triangle by it, and i can not connect any bluetooth devices to my laptop, and i get a message saying "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

When i uninstall the driver completely then hit the tab scan for hardware changes it brings up the "Qualcom Atheros AR3011 bluetooth driver 3.0" and the yellow triangle has gone and my bluetooth is working.

All good you would think, but no if i switch computer of next time i restart it the same problem occurs.

The windows help desk said i had missing and corrupted files on my computer and this is when they said i would need the PREMIUM HELP.

I have scanned my computer with windows saftey scanner, hit man pro, and Malwarebytes and there is no malware on my computer.

But it all worked fine on Windows 7.

Looks like i might have to go back to window 7.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Hi all,

I wanted to let you know I found a driver for the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth for Windows 10, up to and including, build 1909!

First of all my system specifications are:

HP Pavilion g6

AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.40 Ghz

8.00 GB RAM

X64 architecture

.5 Tb SSD HDD

Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 + HS Adapter

The error I was getting from device manager was error code 43 (The "device" is reporting problems...)

The fix is this file from HP:

sp58499

The file from HP is the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Driver Suite for Windows 8 operating system.

Download it to desktop.

Right click it, and select properties.

Check the unblock button, and select apply.

Select the compatibility tab, and choose run this in compatibility mode for windows 8.

Also, select run as administrator.

Select apply and OK.

Left click the file and accept the UAC warning.

Follow the onscreen instructions.

At the end, it will request a rebbot, please do.

Et, Voila! Functioning Bluetooth in Windows 10!

Hello ReduceReuseRecycle!

1.) First determine your computer System Type, x64 (64bit) or x86 (32bit). Press Windows Logo Key + S, type System Information and select System Information Desktop App. Look for computer System Type information.

2.) If you have x64-based PC you must choose and download AMD64 (second) 10.0.1.11 Driver that you can find at **Microsoft Update Catalog**. In case that you have x86-based PC you must choose X86 (first) Driver.

3.) Save compressed Driver file to any place on your computer, unpack (unZip) it and remember created Folder name.

4.) Press Windows Logo Key + X, select and open Device Manager.

5,) Expand Bluetooth. DoubleClick Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0. Select Driver. Update Driver. Browse my Computer for Driver Software. Click Browse button and navigate to the unZiped Driver location. When you will arrive to the unZiped Driver folder click OK and then Next. Driver Installation process will start.

6.) After installation check Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 Driver Version. It should show 10.0.1.11.

7.) Close all opened programs and Restart Computer for changes to take effect.

8.) You are done!

NOTE by MELERIX: by the way, as it is an older driver, it does not support the new Windows 10 shutdown mode called fast startup*, so every time you shut down Windows and then restart it, the device appears with an error, so you have to* disable the fast startup of Windows 10*, in the power options of the control panel.*

I am using Dell N4110, that came with Windows 7 and I updated it to Windows 10 with a completely clean install. Everything works except Bluetooth, according to Dell, the Bluetooth and WiFi are interconnected, however for me, the WiFi works but Bluetooth doesnt.

I checked my drivers, it showed "Generic Bluetooth Driver" (don't remember exact name, but it definitely had the word Generic)

My guess was that the Driver is old, so I installed "Driver Booster App" and it updated my Drivers, and now it says Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0

And it is not working either.

Observations/Important Points:
- The only driver I installed prior to issue was the official graphics drivers
- All other drivers worked after update, including WiFi. It never troubled.
- I am using Genuine Windows, with all updates installed (it is not a pirated ****)
- The Generic Bluetooth Driver showed error code 43, when I installed Driver Booster, to update drivers.
- Windows is working as expected, yet I do not see option to turn on Bluetooth in the right side panel & the bluetooth devices in settings also don't work.
- Bluetooth was working perfectly on my Windows 7 machine.
- I am not sure about the manufacturer of my Bluetooth hardware, all i know is it is version 3.0
- I cant install the normal "Official" Bluetooth drivers provided by for my device, as 1 driver seems to not install on Windows 10, and other gives some error "MSI file not found"
- Yes, I checked my PC is capable of running this version of Windows, it's just that Dell hasn't got the accurate support for it. (500GB Storage, Intel i5 , 4 GB RAM, 64bit)

Hi Rajni,

The device page clearly says Windows 10 is not supported on this device, hence you are having issues.

It is not wise to run an OS that does not receive security updates, so going back to 7 isn't recommended. It is wise to upgrade your device with Windows 10+11 support.

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you.

When did you update your device to Windows 10 version? I checked your manufacturers website and it appears that your device model is not supported in Windows 10, your manufacturer which is Dell did not release a driver for your device model that is why you are experiencing compatibility issues with the drivers.

The last time they release a driver for Windows 8 version.

You can try the old driver for Windows 8, it this driver will not work for you, I suggest for you to go back with Windows 7.

-Press Windows key + X

-Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Bluetooth

-Look for Bluetooth driver that was installed

-Right click and Uninstall

Once uninstalled , go to this link and download and install the driver.

Restart once done and check the Bluetooth.
