Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 Adapter Error 43

Hi all

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

Now my atheros bluetooth driver does not work properly.

I contacted the windows ask desk and they started to help, they got so far then said i needed premium help at the massive cost of £95 which i declined.

The help soon ended.

The point is that it all worked fine on windows 7 so it must be something to do with windows 10.

Details: i run windows 10 on my Lenovo g580 laptop

If i go to device manager the Qualcom Atheros AR3011 bluetooth driver 3.0 has a yellow warning triangle by it, and i can not connect any bluetooth devices to my laptop, and i get a message saying "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

When i uninstall the driver completely then hit the tab scan for hardware changes it brings up the "Qualcom Atheros AR3011 bluetooth driver 3.0" and the yellow triangle has gone and my bluetooth is working.

All good you would think, but no if i switch computer of next time i restart it the same problem occurs.

The windows help desk said i had missing and corrupted files on my computer and this is when they said i would need the PREMIUM HELP.

I have scanned my computer with windows saftey scanner, hit man pro, and Malwarebytes and there is no malware on my computer.

But it all worked fine on Windows 7.

Looks like i might have to go back to window 7.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Hi all,

I wanted to let you know I found a driver for the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth for Windows 10, up to and including, build 1909!

First of all my system specifications are:

HP Pavilion g6

AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.40 Ghz

8.00 GB RAM

X64 architecture

.5 Tb SSD HDD

Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 + HS Adapter

The error I was getting from device manager was error code 43 (The "device" is reporting problems...)

The fix is this file from HP:

sp58499

The file from HP is the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Driver Suite for Windows 8 operating system.

Download it to desktop.

Right click it, and select properties.

Check the unblock button, and select apply.

Select the compatibility tab, and choose run this in compatibility mode for windows 8.

Also, select run as administrator.

Select apply and OK.

Left click the file and accept the UAC warning.

Follow the onscreen instructions.

At the end, it will request a rebbot, please do.

Et, Voila! Functioning Bluetooth in Windows 10!

Hello ReduceReuseRecycle!

1.) First determine your computer System Type, x64 (64bit) or x86 (32bit). Press Windows Logo Key + S, type System Information and select System Information Desktop App. Look for computer System Type information.

2.) If you have x64-based PC you must choose and download AMD64 (second) 10.0.1.11 Driver that you can find at **Microsoft Update Catalog**. In case that you have x86-based PC you must choose X86 (first) Driver.

3.) Save compressed Driver file to any place on your computer, unpack (unZip) it and remember created Folder name.

4.) Press Windows Logo Key + X, select and open Device Manager.

5,) Expand Bluetooth. DoubleClick Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0. Select Driver. Update Driver. Browse my Computer for Driver Software. Click Browse button and navigate to the unZiped Driver location. When you will arrive to the unZiped Driver folder click OK and then Next. Driver Installation process will start.

6.) After installation check Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 Driver Version. It should show 10.0.1.11.

7.) Close all opened programs and Restart Computer for changes to take effect.

8.) You are done!

NOTE by MELERIX: by the way, as it is an older driver, it does not support the new Windows 10 shutdown mode called fast startup*, so every time you shut down Windows and then restart it, the device appears with an error, so you have to* disable the fast startup of Windows 10*, in the power options of the control panel.*

Today I have updated Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 Driver from version 10.0.1.7 to version 10.0.1.11 and now it looks like everything is working fine. Driver can be found at http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=AR3011%20usb%5Cvid_0cf3%26pid_3002[**Microsoft Update Catalog**](http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=AR3011%20usb%5Cvid_0cf3%26pid_3002). I encourage Microsoft to include this (10.0.1.11) Driver into next Cumulative Update for Windows 10 version 1709, as Bluetooth Driver version 10.0.1.7 is obviously buggy and 100% not OK, at least for Bluetooth Hardware ID: usb\vid_0cf3&pid_3002.

I have a similar problem with bluetooth since the update to Windows 1709. I am a novice at updating my laptop. I would like to try the solution you have advised of here i.e. to update the driver to ver 10.0.1.11 but I do not know how to do this. If I follow the steps you show to update the driver I only see the choice below. If I select the Qualcomm option in that box my driver remains at ver 10.0.1.7. I'd appreciate step by step advice on how to download the correct driver from the Windows Update Catalog. I have selected download in the Windows Update Catalog for one of (does it matter which I choose?) the two ver 10.1.0.11 entries there but don't know how to get update driver process to look at the compressed folder containing my download. I am too inexperienced to know how to solve this. Thanks in anticipation

Just an FYI. A new Qualccomm driver for various Dell models is now available.

I lost built-in Bluetooth capability on my Dell with one of the Windows updates in early Jan. I was on a critical project and didn't want to risk creating problems with a roll back. I bought a Bluetooth dongle, and took a "wait and see" approach. Around 1/10/2018, the Dell ultiltiy reported everything was up to date. When I checked 1/18/2018, the following update was available. (Release date of Nov 2017 is a little mysterious, since it wasn't there as of 1/10/2018.) (There was also an update to SmartByte driver. I suppose that could be related to the issue, but I would guess not.)

The update fixed the problem. Built-in Bluetooth is back.
