Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 Adapter Error 43

Hi all

I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7.

Now my atheros bluetooth driver does not work properly.

I contacted the windows ask desk and they started to help, they got so far then said i needed premium help at the massive cost of £95 which i declined.

The help soon ended.

The point is that it all worked fine on windows 7 so it must be something to do with windows 10.

Details: i run windows 10 on my Lenovo g580 laptop

If i go to device manager the Qualcom Atheros AR3011 bluetooth driver 3.0 has a yellow warning triangle by it, and i can not connect any bluetooth devices to my laptop, and i get a message saying "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

When i uninstall the driver completely then hit the tab scan for hardware changes it brings up the "Qualcom Atheros AR3011 bluetooth driver 3.0" and the yellow triangle has gone and my bluetooth is working.

All good you would think, but no if i switch computer of next time i restart it the same problem occurs.

The windows help desk said i had missing and corrupted files on my computer and this is when they said i would need the PREMIUM HELP.

I have scanned my computer with windows saftey scanner, hit man pro, and Malwarebytes and there is no malware on my computer.

But it all worked fine on Windows 7.

Looks like i might have to go back to window 7.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Hi all,

I wanted to let you know I found a driver for the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth for Windows 10, up to and including, build 1909!

First of all my system specifications are:

HP Pavilion g6

AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.40 Ghz

8.00 GB RAM

X64 architecture

.5 Tb SSD HDD

Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 + HS Adapter

The error I was getting from device manager was error code 43 (The "device" is reporting problems...)

The fix is this file from HP:

sp58499

The file from HP is the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth Driver Suite for Windows 8 operating system.

Download it to desktop.

Right click it, and select properties.

Check the unblock button, and select apply.

Select the compatibility tab, and choose run this in compatibility mode for windows 8.

Also, select run as administrator.

Select apply and OK.

Left click the file and accept the UAC warning.

Follow the onscreen instructions.

At the end, it will request a rebbot, please do.

Et, Voila! Functioning Bluetooth in Windows 10!

Hello ReduceReuseRecycle!

1.) First determine your computer System Type, x64 (64bit) or x86 (32bit). Press Windows Logo Key + S, type System Information and select System Information Desktop App. Look for computer System Type information.

2.) If you have x64-based PC you must choose and download AMD64 (second) 10.0.1.11 Driver that you can find at **Microsoft Update Catalog**. In case that you have x86-based PC you must choose X86 (first) Driver.

3.) Save compressed Driver file to any place on your computer, unpack (unZip) it and remember created Folder name.

4.) Press Windows Logo Key + X, select and open Device Manager.

5,) Expand Bluetooth. DoubleClick Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0. Select Driver. Update Driver. Browse my Computer for Driver Software. Click Browse button and navigate to the unZiped Driver location. When you will arrive to the unZiped Driver folder click OK and then Next. Driver Installation process will start.

6.) After installation check Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0 Driver Version. It should show 10.0.1.11.

7.) Close all opened programs and Restart Computer for changes to take effect.

8.) You are done!

NOTE by MELERIX: by the way, as it is an older driver, it does not support the new Windows 10 shutdown mode called fast startup*, so every time you shut down Windows and then restart it, the device appears with an error, so you have to* disable the fast startup of Windows 10*, in the power options of the control panel.*

I appreciate your reply. I'd have appreciated it a lot more if you had taken trouble to actually read my post.

This is not the first time a Windows version has had this type of trouble. In fact this happens with almost every new Windows version and Microsoft had had to release hotfixes to address those problems.

This happened with Windows Vista

Method 1: Download and install the latest Bluetooth drivers

If issue still persists, then install the drivers for Windows 8/8.1 from the manufacturer's website in compatibility mode and check if that works.

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

I have a dual boot Acer Aspire 5745- Windows 10 (upgraded from Windows 8.1) and Windows 7. The bluetooth adapter is Atheros AR3011. The adapter works flawlessly on Windows 7 (and worked without any problem on Windows 8/8.1). If I cold boot to Windows 10, the adapter is not detected at all. However if I boot to Windows 7 and restart and immediately boot to Windows 10, the adapter is detected and works properly. But if I then put my computer to hibernation or sleep, the adapter disappears when the computer resumes/wakes up. Also, I can use the Fn+F3 combination (to toggle wireless adapters) to turn the bluetooth off (if it was on) but cannot turn it back on. Once it is off, it stays off. There is no problem in toggling the WiFi adapter on/off.

I have tried the different versions of the Atheros drivers, including the latest Windows 10 driver, Windows 8 drivers, the driver installed by Windows update as well as generic Microsoft drivers. The end result is same. The adapter is detected (and works) if I restart from Windows 7. If I start the computer by resuming/waking/cold booting to Windows 10, the adapter disappears from the device manager (although visible if I enable"Show hidden devices"). Unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" in the adapter power management tab makes no difference, neither does disabling selective suspend in the usb power settings.

I never had any problem with adapter on Windows 7/8/8.1. No matter how I started the computer- cold boot, restart, wake, resume the adapter works/worked flawlessly.

I cannot understand why Microsoft spammed me to upgrade to Windows 10, told me that my computer could run Windows 10 and then broke my bluetooth. Now the last thing I need is for an MS engineer to tell me to run sfc. And MS, please don't tell me that I need to contact the hardware vendor or Acer. You should have told me this before asking me to upgrade.
