Getting error 0x800F0244 during Windows Update when it wants to update my Intel HD Graphics Driver on my computer which runs an NVidia driver for my discreet GTX 750 card. I have updated the driver from a driver found on the Intel website, here However, WU still wants to install this driver after checking for updates. Error 0x800F0244 is listed on Microsoft Website as - SPAPI_E_SIGNATURE_OSATTRIBUTE_MISMATCH <br>- 0x800F0244 The software was tested for compliance with Windows Logo requirements on a different version of Windows, and may not be compatible with this version. I have already cleared the SoftwareDistribution folder at least twice, the update will not go away. I have since hidden it. BTW, I have a 3rd generation (Ivy Bridge) i5-3570K processor on this machine. I have 2 other machines with Intel processors (a Sandy Bridge Celeron with no discreet graphics, and a Haswell Refresh Pentium G3258 with a Radeon HD 7750 discreet card) all running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, and I haven't seen this update yet for those. Edit: same update appeared for my Celeron machine as well. I hid that too.

Simply put, the above is factually incorrect. While Windows Firewall can be extremely secure, it is not by default and takes a couple of days to customize it to a point where it is secure. While Windows Defender has improved substantially, yearly tests show other products score far higher at detection. Suites such as Comodo Internet Security (which contains an amazing firewall, excellent anti-virus, and superior malware detection) are preferred to Windows OS based security measures. Malwarebytes and Comodo routinely score in the top 5 year after year. Windows Firewall can be made to be as secure as Comodo's firewall; however, it does require a couple of days of customizing to get it to that point... something that simply isn't feasible for most users (not due to the time, but due to the lack of knowledge on what rules need to be set, what rules need to be deleted, and in what order rules need to be applied). Choosing an internet security suite for your PC is like buying a house or car; it requires substantial research. And much like buying a house or car, your failure to research before you buy (or use in the case of software) can leave you screwed in every way possible. An Internet Security Suite consists of a firewall, antivirus, and malware detection and protection; preferably coming with sandbox functionality. It's also key to have a strict firewall running on your router, preferably, for the home user, taken from OpenWRT's fw3 implementation [ fw3 print will print the iptables rules that need to be copied over and applied]. Microsoft offers a free application called EMET that is highly recommended to use in conjunction with an internet security suite.

The update is not flawed... the WSUS database was incorrectly updated with this update, as well as updates for other IG driver versions., all of which do not apply to the IGs it says it is applicable for. This could be due to a myriad of reasons, from missing install files [corrupted install package] to checksum mismatches.

component cleanup and restorehealth don't eliminate the issue, as it's not a problem with either... someone who handles WSUS, more likely than not, accidentally pushed an update that doesn't apply to the WSUS database. Therefore you could even do a clean install and the update will still show up. Why this is even an issue is really beyond comprehension... simply hide the update.

Does any third party manufacturer a driver for the CPU's integrated graphics? No. It's common sense... verify what driver version is installed and compare that to the most recent driver version on Intel's support site. Are they the same? Yes. Intel HD Graphics Driver via Windows Update

Getting error 0x800F0244 during Windows Update when it wants to update my Intel HD Graphics Driver on my computer which runs an NVidia driver for my discreet GTX 750 card.

Simply put, the above is factually incorrect.
- While Windows Firewall can be extremely secure, it is not by default and takes a couple of days to customize it to a point where it is secure.
- While Windows Defender has improved substantially, yearly tests show other products score far higher at detection.

It's common sense... verify what driver version is installed and compare that to the most recent driver version on Intel's support site. Are they the same? Yes.
