Are you seeing inaccurate weather conditions in the MSN Weather App?

The MSN Weather team has received feedback from users of our Apps Windows & Windows Phone platform as well as the MSN Weather website about inaccurate weather conditions being reported ranging from Incorrect location detection (Home or Current), Inaccurate Current conditions (precipitation, temperature, wind etc.) or Forecast issues. Thanks for the feedback - we appreciate it very much. We are working to improve the quality of the app from a functionality and data perspective.

This discussion forum has been created to enable two-way communication between the MSN Weather team and users of the MSN Weather app (Windows, Windows Phone) around data quality issues users are experiencing with the app. When reporting issues, please be sure to provide us details that will help us diagnose issues faster such as:

User's Location (Current or Home)
Date of the Weather data anomaly.
Type of data issue - current conditions (temp, precipitation, wind) or forecast conditions
Version of OS (Windows, WP) on your device
Version of the app currently installed on the device

My location is Hailakandi District, State of Assam and country is India. Msn weather does not locate my location and don't give update weather information.

Hello TirthankarDas,

Please let us know if you are referring to this issue with msn.com or msn weather app on the phone? In our analysis, looking for weather information for Hailakandi district through search box works on all platforms so it would be good to know how you are trying to look for the weather for this location and what behavior / error you are seeing. Thank you.

Sorry, I posted this in the wrong area. I use the MSN homepage on my PC (Win 8.1 Pro), but I guess the issue is the same, regardless...

My zip is 88220... but seriously? This weather app MSN is linking to is really lacking in accuracy. Whatever model they're using, they need to abandon it, or MSN just needs to link to a well-established weather site, that uses time-proven models. Seriously.

I (at this point) don't trust the weather information from my MSN homepage (on the PC) anymore, and I don't know when I will, because everytime I catch myself clicking on the weather app, I remind myself that I need to check another source to see what the weather will really be like. That really degrades the confidence in what I'm using as my home page. I'm sure all the sponsors on that page (MSN) would rather we stay on that page...

Hello Dharmesh,

While we are waiting for more input, as a workaround you can search for Mumbai as a location from weather app and add it as your favorite place. Let us know if you are able to do so or if you are seeing any issues.
