This Help hub page serves as a means for the MSN Weather Engineering team to also interact with our end users on issues they are encountering with the Apps and the Weather site on www.msn.com in addition to also communicating known issues.

Are you seeing inaccurate weather conditions in the MSN Weather App?

The MSN Weather team has received feedback from users of our Apps Windows & Windows Phone platform as well as the MSN Weather website  about inaccurate weather conditions being reported ranging from Incorrect location detection (Home or Current), Inaccurate Current conditions (precipitation, temperature, wind etc.) or Forecast issues. Thanks for the feedback - we appreciate it very much. We are working to improve the quality of the app from a functionality and data perspective.

This discussion forum has been created to enable two-way communication between the MSN Weather team and users of the MSN Weather app (Windows, Windows Phone) around data quality issues users are experiencing with the app. When reporting issues, please be sure to provide us details that will help us diagnose issues faster such as:

  • User's Location (Current or Home)
  • Date of the Weather data anomaly.
  • Type of data issue - current conditions (temp, precipitation, wind) or forecast conditions
  • Version of OS (Windows, WP) on your device
  • Version of the app currently installed on the device

    I was having the same problem as Helga Leonard: I liked the little weather gadget on the screen of my laptop, and it suddenly became unavailable.  I tried A LOT of different things to get it back, including every conceivable virus and malware scan on my computer, and contacting Dell, to no avail.  Now I see that you've discontinued gadgets for Windows 7 computers due to security issues with gadgets in general.

       On the one hand, I'm glad you've moved to end a security threat.

       On the other hand, thanks for doing it without TELLING ME ABOUT IT, <removed content>!  I spent a lot of time trying to figure that out.

       Updating the entire operating system on my computer is, quite simply, not going to happen.  That would take way too much of my time, if it can be done at all.  System upgrades also have an unfortunate tendency to break machines and destroy data, and I'm not willing to risk it.  I'm not going to have a new operating system until I have a new machine, and I can't afford to replace this computer anytime soon.

       Why don't you just fix the security issue?  Can't you change it at YOUR end?  Don't you usually publish patches for security holes like this?

    I cannot get accurate historical data off of MSN weather for New Port Richey, and Mancelona MI.  I got the correct hiatorical data a month ago.  I tried refreash and I reinstall from app store.  I got back the same information I had before I uninstalled and reinstalled MSN weather.  OS is 8.1 and I am using explorer 11.  I am using a Dell Inspiron 15 7000,   The INformation is correct for the home place and all of the information is there.  What's going on??????

    I've been having problems for at least a year now where the app on my Lumia 930 consistently puts my current location at a ski resort 5 hours drive from me no matter where I am. It happens on WiFi and mobile and I've uninstalled the app. Any ideas? I know I can set my home to my real location but would be nice if it could tell me the temp at current location. Thanks.

    Hello Dharmesh,

    While we are waiting for more input, as a workaround you can search for Mumbai as a location from weather app and add it as your favorite place. Let us know if you are able to do so or if you are seeing any issues.
