compatability of Windows 10 with embroidery software, 4D Embroidery, in particular?

I paid $600 for the upgrade, I just upgraded to Premier + embroidery. I have not purchased any of the other modules.   It works well.  I was aware when I purchased the Topaz 30 that newer versions of the machine were about to be released, which is why I got a good deal on the machine. I have had it four years now, I'd love to have a color touchscreen on the machine but can't really afford it, but I love the machine.   I agree, that upgrades are inevitable

The machine & software have nothing to do with each other.  You can use your machine without ever having bought the software.  Likewise, you can use the software without ever having bought a Viking/Pfaff machine.  I own Brother & Babylock machines and use the software with no problem and also on Win10.  Personally, even though I worked for the company, I wouldn't buy a Viking machine if my life depended on it.

The software only allows you to create additional embroidery designs of your own.  You can download well over (and this is just a rough estimate) 200,000 designs online in VP3 format and they will work fine with your machine.

I only have continued upgrading my software so I can assist people in the 5D Embroidery group on Facebook.  I haven't purchased the latest Premier +2 because I haven't learned how to use 6D & Premier + yet.  Also, the latest software doesn't require a dongle but you can only reload the software a limited number of times before it expires.  I'm not sure how they have worked that wrinkle out for people who continually remove & reinstall the software because they think the software is the problem & usually it's the computer.

Prior to Premier +2 coming out at the Viking convention, you were able to pre-order it at a significant discount.  Viking & Pfaff have trade-in opportunities every so often primarily to get the older software off the market because the Viking Sewing Galleries are trained on the newest software on the market.

Do you think $1,000 is cheap for an upgrade for a machine that cost over #10.000?  I really think it should be simple to get assistance in opening the software module.  If I am totally wrong in this I apologize.B

All software has an end of life.  If you consider a class action suit then you need to include every software manufacturer in the world.  Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of all the belly aching about Viking and their software issues.  Their software doesn't even come close to what Wilcom costs or the complete Adobe illustrator package.

You are basically telling Bill Gates & Co. that they shouldn't enhance technology.  Software is driven by technology updates.  My Office 2007 is no longer supported at the end of this year.  I don't see any problem with a software company refusing to give assistance if 3 newer versions of the product are on the market.

It is amazing how many people are having trouble with the 4 or 5D program.  My dealer said I didn't need the premier as it had more options than I would ever use.  She set me up to use the 5D--the 4D just appeared and then disappeared.  All worked well until last week and now I keep getting the info that the software module was opening--most of the time it didn't. The help from HUS was disgusting--they just said they no longer supported the 5D and no suggestions than buy the Premier progam--my dealer said it cost over $1,000n and after buying the epic I'm in no mood to spend more.  I think we should consider a class action here--perhaps the main problem is with Microsoft 10 but HUS could at least contact them and get assistance they can pass off to Like so many others I will never buy another machine altho the machines are wonderful.Betty
