compatability of Windows 10 with embroidery software, 4D Embroidery, in particular?

I am using my D1 in my summer home.  The 4D software is on an old computer...which is questionable, anyway.  But, the copy of 4D embroidery appears to be corrupt.  I need a new copy, and windows 10 apparently does not support the software...yet.

If you have the software CDs you can reinstall the software.  Several people have gotten 4D to work on a Win10 computer.  If you do not have your 4D software CDs any longer, unfortunately you will be out of luck.  You will need to purchase the Premier+ embroidery software as that is the latest on the market or go to the Premier+ website and see if you can still buy 6D from the website.  4D & 5D can't be purchased any longer.

As long as you have a valid account in the software database you can login to your account if you remember the email address you used.

I have a 4D account but I don't have a 6D account so I cannot get the update. Is there a way to get the update without a 6D account?

That is very nice... not! I have bought an embroidery machine that only works with a dongle and a laptop. Okay you could say that I was a very stupid woman when I bought that machine but according the shop it was the best they had... and I do not usually throw away a working laptop.

It was not a cheap machine and was 6 months old when a friends' kids threw cola over the my laptop. I had to buy a new laptop and now my embroidery program and machine are not supported!?! The shop where I bought it, does not want to take the machine back since it is a software problem. The software company does not want to do a thing about it. That is a nice way to throw away your money. I will have to work for a couple of years to earn that kind of money! No Vinking or software with dongles for me anymore!

What machine did you buy?  None of the current Viking or Pfaff machines require a dongle to make the machine work.  The dongle is a protection device for the software so it can't be pirated and installed on multiple machines.  All you need to do with the new laptop is reinstall the software and download updated HASP drivers from the support section called 'Other Useful Software' from this link:  http://www.premierplusembroidery.com/en/Support/Software-Help.  If you have 5D or 6D the software works fine on Win10.  Some people have gotten their 4D to work on Win10.

The shop should be able to assist you with the download and reinstall process to your laptop.  The shop has already said the problem is software related so there is no reason why they should take your machine back.  I'm not being mean, just realistic.  If you need me to assist you in reinstalling on the laptop, please email me at:  ******@misskatescreations.com.  Hopefully you didn't throw the dongle away when you purchased the new laptop.  If you did, then there isn't going to be any way to reinstall the software.  Viking has specific rules about the dongle as do other software companies which require dongles to be installed in order to use their software.  The software I own for my multi-needle machine also requires a dongle in order to open the software.
