Solitaire on Windows 10

The word "threatened" has different meanings to people.  When a constant "pop-up" appears at every turn without a "please don't remind me again" button... there is a problem, especially with folks that don't know how to remove the notification and or the update file.  So it does seem to be a "threat" to not upgrade.   And ... if Microsoft was a smaller company, they would be bending over backwards to keep their customers happy.  Not too much money and or time would go into a forced update (since that's what windows 10 does) to put in a simple solitaire game to appease loyal windows users.   However, Microsoft is now too big to care about the small issues.  There is always Ubuntu.  IMO

I don't understand the lack of awareness and misplaced sense of entitlement that some people have regarding Windows features that are absent from new versions.  The number of users of all versions of Windows numbers in the billions, and for Windows 10 it's somewhere around the 200,000,000 mark right now.  How many "small issues" do you think there might be among that many people?  How would Microsoft ever be able to devise an operating system that will have no "small issues"?   The standard answer here is, "Yes, but there are lots of people who want [feature x], I'm not the only one!"  The lack of awareness is evinced in the fact that "lots of people" is an infinitesimally small number compared to the size of the user base as a whole, and everyone thinks that all of the "small issues" should be taken care of to the universal satisfaction of billions of users.

Xbox is not an acceptable alternative.  I don't use Xbox and don't want to.  My wife is the primary user of Solitaire and I don't want to invest time learning Xbox, then spend more time teaching her how to use it then never using it again.  Solitaire should be available for installation in her computer like other "old fashioned" programs.

This is what happens when companies, who are always profit and market share driven have no real competition.  I have been a crusader for Microsoft for years but this is yet another slap in the face.  This is an easy fix but I believe it will be ignored and trust me, they are aware. 

My solution will be to pay money for a PC game for cards in which I can circumvent the pop up adds.  You don't win Microsoft, but instead are losing another loyal fan. 

Your slow move into the phone industry was the reason for the horrible windows 8 tile mess.  Only extreme and universal dissatisfaction brought back some of what we were all accustomed to from a great Win 7 program.

I have felt for years now that we as users would be better served if you charged a small yearly update fee but kept an OS we are comfortable with and used to, close to the same.  This would keep you from needing to come out with a completely different system every few years to make money from.  Needing to join and set up yet another app just to play the basic games we use everyday and have learned to expect from Windows, and then to be forced to put up with ads etc, is not good business no matter how you slice it.

Oh, and if you ever want to be successful in the phone industry, it's all about the apps store...period.

I absolutely agree with Solitaire Players wanting their games free of advertising.

I would pay a nominal annual fee to microsoft to play.  I am not a computer wizzard, like some of you on here.  Basically, I do my banking, emails, FB, look things up & do my favorite games, which happens to be the  microsoft solitaire collection.  I don't believe we should have to pay additional money for games, there are no ads on my games.
