Groove Music not finding local files

HI,

I'm also facing this problem on an Clean installed Windows 10.

I think the problem is direct on the Groove Music App, with this application I'm facing multiple problems....

Since I installed my Windows 10 and synced all file, I could see the problem with local file since minute one.

Today I looked in Groove music and missed some Tracks...

So i looked a bit deeper on my local storage, then into the ondrive recycle bin and found out, that in the last two nights about 400 Tracks (mp3 and m4a) randomly where deleted.

From Bon Jovi till some Podcast, just where deleted without any reason. (just the files, not the folder)

I think there is no problem on ondrive but a problem with the music App.

The problem is may in the synchronization process.

Background information and what I've done:

- I've tried several official workarounds from MS, including deleting local library's, internet explorer settings, etc....

• Local Music folder is linked to my Onedrive music folder (180 GB 28.000 Files) 
• Groove is using my default music folder, that is pointing on the ondrive
• I can see that the App is sporadically syncing (short sync popup comes)
• I can't see no music when i click on local device or sometime the are a few about 10 maybe
• When I compare my Ondrive Music in Groove Music APP with the online Player, I can see that the Music App is showing completely ****

So I think someone should look deeper on the Music Player side I will keep an eye on my files.

I can't understand, why there nobody looked deeper into the Microsoft Ondrive/Music thing, cause this is for me an really an core feature since MS killed Zune?

....please Microsoft, take a little care of your Music application :( since Windows8 the Music application is worse than ever

Zune is and was the best and stable player from MS.

ID Tag scanning with an little xml database, lightweight, fast an clean.... 

So there is  no official option to  kill Grove Music, but if you need an stable player... user Zune, it still works ;)

Definitely silly that you have to share the folders with YOURSELF before it will do anything

Windows fail.

Based on this, I wonder if I can turn off sharing to particular folders to exclude them from the photos app... hmmm

I tried the sharing "trick" and it simply didn't work. Windows Media Player (it's still here!) can see all the music without an issue, why not Groove?

After reading about the VLC app, I figured why not. I dl'd it, and it immediately found all of my music and began cataloging it as well as my videos and I didn't have to do a thing. No begging, no crying,  no confusion.

Smell ya later, Groove app.

Yep VLC is much better - I'm glad you found it useful. I've still got it installed but have moved to the Amazon app as I have a Prime account so get loads of 'free' music. Either app is superior to Groove.

Whatever were MS thinking ?!

And still no support....sigh...

I was following this thread and came across your comment, so I just checked my recycle bin, which was showing 'full' for no good reason. It turned out to have ~1200 music files dumped in it! I can only think that Groove did this somehow, as they are on SD card, and should not have been accessed by any other programme.

Like everyone else, I'm astonished at how bad the MS music apps have been getting on WP and Win10. Making me paranoid about file deletions really doesn't help.
