On my desktop, Groove music is not finding any of my local music files that I have in the folders I have added (mostly my existing iTunes folders). I've tried resetting the app but still no luck. Grabbing my OneDrive files with no problem.
Any thoughts?

I got groove music to identify the music by sharing it with myself, and generally messing with the sharing settings on the files. Sorry I cant be more specific. good luck all.
however Cortana still can play any songs.
me: hey Cortana... play a song (or play music, ect)
her: ok cueing up your music .... somethings not right (or something went wrong, ect)
ive seen the little player pop up on occasion but it immediately shuts down.
I never removed and re-added my music folder in Groove but unchecked the folders read only properties, it did its thing, and remarked read only; but restarted the Groove program and started to add the music seemingly fine.
So I am guessing I will have to do the same thing for my Amazon and general PC music folders if the albums that I haven't moved from there are not listed
So starting to look like one issue down from this migration down.

I had the same problem. I went to the folder where the music is, and clicked on the properties tab. Then went to the Sharing tab. Once I enabled the sharing feature, all my music showed up. Hope this helps.

I give up. The lack of response from Microsoft to this thread shows they are either working on it or don't care. Not sure which? Windows 10 on my Surface 3 is way too unstable; not being able to play music is a key reason to abandon it. I'm back on Windows 8.1. Microsoft, call me when it gets out of beta. You have my number.
I agree, the lack of support from Microsoft and the Windows team is unbelievable. Seems instead of looking to buy Twitter Microsoft would be better hiring support staff to help manage the forums and solve problems for their user base. The only thing that is pushing me towards buying a Mac is that when they upgrade you don't have to lose things like WiFi connection, the ability for your computer to sleep or do something as simple as play music!
