Groove Music not finding local files

I had the same problem, however, I started windows media player and it found my files! After playing awhile, groove started butting in playing random songs intermittently with WMP. I guess Groove is a slow learner by example of big brother(WMP).

On my desktop, Groove music is not finding any of my local music files that I have in the folders I have added (mostly my existing iTunes folders).  I've tried resetting the app but still no luck.  Grabbing my OneDrive files with no problem.

Any thoughts?

ok, the way to fix this problem is simple, just sign out the Microsoft account from the groove music and then the musics will add automatically

It is easiest to just start over.

1. The first thing is make sure you are signing in with a Microsoft Account rather than a local account.
2. Remove your current Groove application by starting PowerShell with administrative privileges and deleting the app using command: get-appxpackage *Microsoft.ZuneMusic* | remove-appxpackage
3. Go to the Windows Store and reinstall the Groove Music app.

When you first start Groove Music it should automatically start loading your local files.

I had this problem on my desktop (Windows 10 version 1607) too, I tried other solutions from different websites but none of them work on my device.

But I have found a found a solution (accidentally)

Go to Settings > System > Apps & Features> Groove Music > Advanced Options > Reset

And you're good to go.

I hope this works on your device as it works on mine.

Was having comparable issue with getting Groove to recognize music on my network music server. 0

Once I browsed to the album level folders, Groove added everything from my server.
