Groove Music not finding local files

How about a response Microsoft ?

I see many people having the same issues but you seem to be avoiding answering anyone.

This Groove app is really bad, can't believe it was released without checking basic functionality.

I've jumped through all the hoops, un-ticked the read-only setting (only for it to revert), reset the database and shared the folder to my home group.

It appeared to work for a short time, but then it soon went wrong.

Over the past few days my music sections seem to have a mind of their own - I had most of my albums & artists briefly then some of them and now none of them.

Every time I start it, it's something new. Songs that were recognised suddenly become Unknown. Album art that was working disappears.

Albums & Artist  are almost all now unknown. I have one song recognised as The Beach Boys correctly and despite it being in the same folder as everything else, Groove says it cannot find it. Great.

Can we get some help please MS ?

I installed the VLC app for windows and these guys have something much better and working as it should. Can't quite believe that MS with all the money and resources came up with this and more so that we're not getting any support.

I agree, the lack of support from Microsoft and the Windows team is unbelievable. Seems instead of looking to buy Twitter Microsoft would be better hiring support staff to help manage the forums and solve problems for their user base. The only thing that is pushing me towards buying a Mac is that when they upgrade you don't have to lose things like WiFi connection, the ability for your computer to sleep or do something as simple as play music!

I give up. The lack of response from Microsoft to this thread shows they are either working on it or don't care. Not sure which? Windows 10 on my Surface 3 is way too unstable; not being able to play music is a key reason to abandon it. I'm back on Windows 8.1. Microsoft, call me when it gets out of beta. You have my number.

I had the same problem.  I went to the folder where the music is, and clicked on the properties tab.  Then went to the Sharing tab.  Once I enabled the sharing feature, all my music showed up.  Hope this helps.
