On my desktop, Groove music is not finding any of my local music files that I have in the folders I have added (mostly my existing iTunes folders). I've tried resetting the app but still no luck. Grabbing my OneDrive files with no problem.
Any thoughts?

Are you still having problems with it? I had this same problem for a while. I realised I wasn't logged into Groove with my Microsoft account. When I logged in it refreshed the entire library and detected the new music I added. It might be something as simple as logging out and back in again
Okay, so was there ever a resolution to this? I started a thread but see that this was an old problem that just cropped up for me today. I added two new albums and Groove just ignores them (they were added to the same place all my other music is but won't add). I've tried resharing etc but no help. Anybody????
I was following this thread and came across your comment, so I just checked my recycle bin, which was showing 'full' for no good reason. It turned out to have ~1200 music files dumped in it! I can only think that Groove did this somehow, as they are on SD card, and should not have been accessed by any other programme.
Like everyone else, I'm astonished at how bad the MS music apps have been getting on WP and Win10. Making me paranoid about file deletions really doesn't help.
Yep VLC is much better - I'm glad you found it useful. I've still got it installed but have moved to the Amazon app as I have a Prime account so get loads of 'free' music. Either app is superior to Groove.

I tried the sharing "trick" and it simply didn't work. Windows Media Player (it's still here!) can see all the music without an issue, why not Groove?
After reading about the VLC app, I figured why not. I dl'd it, and it immediately found all of my music and began cataloging it as well as my videos and I didn't have to do a thing. No begging, no crying, no confusion.
Smell ya later, Groove app.
