Groove Music not finding local files

What fixed it for me was moving the music folder from an external hard drive to an internal one. Don't know why his matters but as the transfer was going music started to populate groove.

Just thought I would let you know that I created a new user profile and it has indeed fixed the problem.  I appreciate the help.

Would have liked to have found out the exact cause of the problem, but I guess I will just forget about it now and move on :)

Will give it a go when I have some time.  Creating a new profile just to get Groove to find music is quite frankly ridiculous though.  There's got to be a setting or corrupt file somewhere under the users appdata folder somewhere, or something specific to the user in the registry that is causing this - If it isn't a bug with the software itself.  

Also, needing to be an administrator for a music app to show your music?  I am an administrator already, but why the hell should you need admin rights for something like that?  Madness.

None of that is aimed at you Stephen, in case it comes across that way. Just frustrated with Microsoft's media apps being rather subpar.  :)

You need to create a new user who is an administrator and forget your old account. Once you do this and login set grove to find your music folder and it will work.  Make sure you have all your files and settings set with your new user profile, then you can just delete your old profile whenever you feel ready.  This did the trick for me and like you I tried everything.

I've tried logging out and back into Groove with my Microsoft account but that hasn't made a difference.  Groove still cant find any of my music. :(
