Age of empires II won't work via windows 10

So I was playing age of empires II other day while using windows 7 well upgraded today to windown 10 and now it won't run the start up menu starts but I click play now ... and nothing.how can I fix it

Go to your backup setting and it'll have an option to go back to windown 7

I'm a dumb blonde when it comes to this stuff. I just know how to install and play.

I'm having the same exact issue with trying to play my age of empires and red alert series.

How do I revert back to my Windows 7?

I did the free Windows 10 upgrade.

Ok I found out this game (off the disc) uses safedisc. Safedisc is not supported on WIndows 10. your options are to;

* get a digital copy of the game

* see if Macrovision will supply a driver

I'm having the same issue on my laptop (ACER Aspire E1-51OP-2671). Playing AOE II Gold Edition, worked fine on win-8 (or win-8 in win-7 mode). Compatibility modes don't make any difference, except to prompt me to log in as an administrator before launching in compatibility mode for win-7 & 8, which also doesn't help. It can't seem to read from the DVD (but that is a completely untrained speculation ;) ) Mostly like 10 thus far, but I want my AOE, too!
