    1. Did you (a) uninstall the McAfee Security Center AND THEN (b) download/run the McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool & reboot (c) BEFORE you installed Microsoft Security Essentials?
    2. The second line of text in IE11's Help | About [Alt+H+A] tab reads Upgrade Versions: 11.0.11 (KB2977629) yet neither KB2977629 nor Internet Explorer 11 is listed in Installed Updates, is that correct?

    1. Is Installed Updates totally blank/empty and if so, is...
    • Start | Control Panel | Pro grams and Features | Turn Windows features on or off <=this pane

    ...also blank/empty?

    1. Can you successfully upgrade to Flash Player v17.0.0.134 (or higher) by opening Internet Explorer ONLY to this page? => http://www.adobe.com/go/getflash
    • BEWARE any pre-checked options to "drive-by" install unwanted, third-party software (e.g., Google Toolbar; Google Chrome)!

Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload the file to your OneDrive, share with everyone and post a link here. Reports in normal mode preferred. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

Please upload and share with everyone copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your OneDrive and post a link here.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting Action from the menu. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.

    Split from this thread.

I have the same issue with repeated updates. In the month of March 2015 update notices came every day but three. So far in April there was only one day (April 6) without an update notice. Each time I dutifully downloaded and installed the updates but with many the same update # appeared repeatedly. This can't be right. Why would updates be necessary that frequently? I have tried hiding updates to no avail. Something must be wrong somewhere either on M/S end or in my computer.  I find a previous solution suggested is waaaay too long and complicated with no guarantees that it will fix the problem. Is there any way I can actually talk (by phone) to a M/S technician who can fix the problem remotely with me? This problem is driving me kookoo --- taking too long to download updates, taking up my hard drive space, slowing down computer performance, etc.!!!

    Split from this thread.

I too have been having the same issue nearly everyday since March 11, 2015.

These same 5 "new" updates keep coming in as updates and are (manually) installed successfully...

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3021952)

Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3032359)

Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3004375)

Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3031432)

And I have ran the update troubleshooter with no known errors detected.

The only thing that I can think is that on Disc Cleanup, Clean up System Files, Windows

Update Cleanup - the Service Pack Backup files box is checked... (???) Always assumed

that this would remove old files that have been replaced with newer versions.

I don't really know what is going on with these updates ... a first for me.

Any suggestions would be helpful.... thanks!
