Game not working on Windows 10

I installed a game yesterday and had to uninstall it because it would just not work. I tried everything. Frist, it would say I had to be an administrator for it to run, so I ran it as an administrator, but then it just wouldn't start. So, I ran the technical compatibility troubleshoot and tried every setting they recommended and it won't start or open at all. It doesn't even try to start. The run as administrator permission box opens and I click ok and then nothing happens. It still won't work. Any fixes for this? It worked before on windows 7 and then I upgraded to windows 10 and now nothing.

    Ran into this awhile back also and been scouring for fixes to no avail. The games I've had issues with are: Baldur's gate (just purchased the CD's about a year ago) & Wizardry 8 (also CD version). I've read that MS added some coding that blocks some games. I'm pretty disappointed with this OS to say the least.

    I have had issues with the MS/XBOX games that were automatically installed on my desktop computer since before the last Windows 10 update, and now they won't run at all.  I uninstalled them and it won't let me reinstall them. It says I own them but it won't reinstall.  The error code I am getting when I try to reinstall is 0x80070422.

    I tried your link above to the Xbox forum and it is dead.  Now what?

    Why would these questions be suited to the XBox forum?  We all have CD and DVD games for the PC, not for the XBox.  These are not XBox games.  These CD and DVD games all appear to have certain forms of DRM which Microsoft has deemed unacceptable and Microsoft has decided to not allow us to play these games which for some of us amounts to quite a lot of money down the tubes.

    I think it will be a cold day in hell before the game distributors offer patches to remove the DRM.  Only one did that I know of and that was a patch for A Vampyre Story to remove SecuROM.  But Bioware or EA Games?  Forget it.  I can't even get EA Games to respond to an issue with on-line activation.  Once you've spent your money, you're on your own.

    And to tdug's suggestion of running XP in a VM - that really won't help either.  The "XP Mode" that was available for Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate was geared for business applications that were still dependent on the legacy OS.  But it did not support 3D graphics, so was pretty useless for gaming.

    I am in a better position than most as I have Windows 7 installed on a separate SSD in my case and I set my computer up as a dual boot.  Plus, I even put my ancient old XP hard drive in a low-end desktop I built just to house it.  But that isn't an answer for most PC Gamers who would like to keep up with the new operating systems, but still continue to play their games.

    I'm sure "cold day in hell" also describes how Microsoft will help us out.
