Error with Windows Update KB3000850

I may get around to trying the latest ideas presented here as I have the same issues and the prerequisite kbs are indeed allready installed.

Why must we be going thru these hoops....?

Seems customizing our user experience has broken the ability to get timely updates. I don't care that it may be an optional update the kb article suggests that it fixes a whole lot of stuff, that might not otherwise be fixed.

Wondering now if KB 3000850 may be a prerequisite for future updates...?

Microsoft... Are you listening???

If you don't want us to do any simple customization then make windows like a television set so we can't change the programming.  What a wonderfull world it would be if we didn't have to worry about change and let our operating systems creator dictate how we live...

Err I am so mad at you......

Ok so I had a chance to think about this and I came back to add two more cents...

1. Fix this problem with an update.
2. Stay out of the television market... I own a smart TV that updates automatically, accepts streaming from my laptop and my camera it does dnla perfectly, surfs the web, does netflicks and all kinds of neat things.. and you know what.. I never have to reboot it... It just works.

It's funny to think removing a folder would cause it to give such an error!  For mine it was the "Accessibility" folder since I didn't clean as much as you.

Decided to try again. Ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, no problems reported. Ran sfc /scannow and it repaired some start menu items (which I deleted some time ago as not used):

Accessibility - Windows Speech Recognition

System Tools - Default Programs, Task Manager and Windows Easy Transfer.

I ran the update from downloaded stand alone installer. When it finished and restarted (about 20 minutes for the update and restart) I ran Windows Update and it showed the same update reference with an 11mb file still needed to be installed. Downloaded that and restarted, and all seems fine. No noticeable change in PC speed, so it seems to have finally done the job.

Did exactly the same thing with the laptop. All went OK.

The only difference, there was not the extra 11mb update this time!

All is well.

Strange that it took quite a few attempts to sort itself out though.

I ran the Dism etc. and it repaired mine.

Ok so I am seeing lots of suggestions and technical help for installing the KB3000850 update.  Here's my issue:  Yesterday on 3/14/15 I got message that my windows 8.1 computer was going to shutdown to install updates so I let it.  I didn't sit there and watch to see if it went to 100 percent but when I came back later, it was at the lock screen so I signed on.  My less than a year old XPS 8700 is running in slow motion!  Not just the internet but everything looks like a 3 second slide show.  It's like when I select something it floats out until finally coming to rest.  When I select a cell in my Excel spreadsheet, it floats in slow motion before finally coming to rest in selected cell.

This is what I've checked:  In control panel it shows that the last updates successfully installed were on 3/11/15 and nothing for 3/14/15.  It also shows KB3000850 as being successfully installed on 3/9/15.  So I clicked on "View installed updates" and I see about 25 updates for 3/14/15 installed and one being an update for KB3000850.  So I don't know whether it was installed or not, and why if this came out in November 2014 did it takeover 3 months for me to get it when I've always had my automatic update install turned on, and what has happened to put my computer in slow motion?  I only know how to use my computer, and know nothing about messing with the registry and even if I did I probably couldn't find it in windows 8!   Also what is a CBS log and how do I find it?  I would appreciate if anyone has any suggestions or knows what could be going on?
