Hi,
This update, KB3000850, is quite large -- something like 720+Mb. After quite some time downloading (seemed to get stuck at 4% and 90% downloaded), I got error 800700002 when I tried to install this windows update.
Right after starting download, I disabled my real time anti-virus.
Can anyone suggest ways to overcome this problem???
Thanks

OK, this is ridiculous! I just got my computer a couple of months ago and it constantly gets hung up whenever I have to restart. I get the message that there are updates installing. It freezes at 8%, then restarts, then says to wait while updates are being installed, then says it can't install them and is removing the changes made and finally, after over 10 minutes of this process, it restarts.....but, you guessed it, no update has been installed.
This update is ridiculously large so, everytime I "check" for updates, it takes another 5 minutes for the computer to download, install, and then this whole process starts all over again and it fails to install. I've wasted an entire day on this.
No, I'm not a programmer, I have no idea how to do any of the things suggested in this thread of conversation. What the heck is wrong with MS that an update like this would be an "Important Update" and yet I can't install the darn thing?
I've been on the phone with Costco's concierge tech people, they can't figure it out either.
Anyone at MS have any suggestions for someone who ISN'T a computer programmer? What about the rest of us who would just like to use the new computer we've bought without these hassles every single time we need to restart our computers?
Thank you for some guidance here.

Can't find a file on your system and browse it in Notepad? That is something that you should learn how to do anyway. FWIW simply pressing (and releasing) Win- to open the Start Screen and then typing as little as No is enough to find Notepad. Then pressing Enter opens it. Then to open a file which might not have an association with Notepad (e.g. because it might not be a .txt file) just press Ctrl-o and navigate to it using AutoComplete. For example, C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ReportingEvents.log can be opened with as few additional keystrokes as typing c:\w (to match C:\Windows), CursorDown, \So (to match C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution), CursorDown, R (to match ReportingEvents.log) Enter. Then to go to the bottom press Ctrl-End. Then scroll up to see something related to your problem symptom. Etc.

No idea what you're talking about, sorry Robert. I know how to open Notepad. But why would I? As I said before, why should it be near impossible to simply install an update without going through many steps that I don't even know why I'd be doing them? I've made the mistake of following other non-microsoft people's advice before, taking the steps they'd advise, and it's only caused additional problems.
why would I?
