Error with Windows Update KB3000850

Hi,

This update, KB3000850, is quite large -- something like 720+Mb.  After quite some time downloading (seemed to get stuck at 4% and 90% downloaded), I got error 800700002 when I tried to install this windows update.

Right after starting download, I disabled my real time anti-virus.

Can anyone suggest ways to overcome this problem???

    same issue with installing this particular update

    Probably not, so use the same technique that Uwe used to find his cause.  E.g. start with ReportingEvents.log to find an accurate timestamp.  Then go into WindowsUpdate.log to get more clues, including more (earlier) timestamps.  Then finally go into CBS.log for its details about the events that you are interested in.

    thx, this fixed the issue for me aswell.

    in my case i had to create the folders in:

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessibility

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Tablet PC

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools

    I'm also having problems installing this update.  As others have mentioned it takes a long time and then takes a long time to roll back.

    Again this is the 64 bit version on win 8.1pro - no changes to start menu structure and all the usual things attempted (clearing download cache, running the "fix problems with updates" software.. everything)

    I'm only posting in the hope that there will be sufficient activity for microsoft to fix the issue with their update.

    Hi Guys,

    in my case CBS.log told me, it could not find These Folders:

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessibility

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Tablet PC

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools

    I have no idea what happened - no one has deleted these Folders.

    i re-created them and after that i was able to install the update.

    This odd bug tooks hours and some hair :(
