Error with Windows Update KB3000850

I have tried everything suggested and more, this will not install.

Update:  never mind, just saw your post that you fixed it :)

I downloaded and read your log. It shows that you are missing the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessibilityfolder.    

This is the exact same folder I was missing.

Just create the missing folder and try to run the update again.

For more detail I would use the ReportingEvents.log to get the timestamp.  Then find the portion of CBS.log which corresponded to that.  It might give a clue about which module is "missing".

thanks for this great hint!

Checking CBS.log revealed that KB3000850 is picky about the structure of the start menu...

I had moved several entries to a sub-directory:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessibility

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\Tablet PC

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools

It is easy to spot these errors in CBS.log: search for ", Error" without the quotes (the comma space in front is important).

After recreating these three directories I was able to install KB3000850 :-)

Your tip was right on the spot.   Looking at the CBS.log file found that I was missing just the Accessibility directory.  Re-created it and then the [offline] installer worked without issue.

Success on my desktop!

Decided to try again. Ran Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth, no problems reported. Ran sfc /scannow and it repaired some start menu items (which I deleted some time ago as not used):

Accessibility - Windows Speech Recognition

System Tools - Default Programs, Task Manager and Windows Easy Transfer.

I ran the update from downloaded stand alone installer. When it finished and restarted (about 20 minutes for the update and restart) I ran Windows Update and it showed the same update reference with an 11mb file still needed to be installed. Downloaded that and restarted, and all seems fine. No noticeable change in PC speed, so it seems to have finally done the job.

Did exactly the same thing with the laptop. All went OK.

The only difference, there was not the extra 11mb update this time!

All is well.

Strange that it took quite a few attempts to sort itself out though.

I had to remove it. After done it would cause my IE to keep shutting down. Makes one wonder how well tecks at MS are pre testing their work!

yes I did everything described.

The DISM .../restorehealth passed 3 times and no luck.

Now I downloaded all the necessary updates to install this. Again: no luck.

Don't know what the problem might be...

Any else suggestions?
