Mouse and keyboard input not working after windows 10 upgrade from windows 7.

I am half way through reinstalling everything on my machine, "thankyou microsoft".  ....  in the mean time another few searches came up with a possibility of going into the UEFI bios and disabling the Intel XHCI mode.   ....  it is too late for me to try, but if this does work, why would the live Microsoft wizzards not know about this fix?  try it, Kaister, and let me know.  if it works, I'll be grumped out.

I am having the same problem.

I had issues today after upgrading finally from windows 7 to windows 10 on my destop PC and had issues with the install of the upgrade, issues with windows 10 running properly and freezes so i down graded and had issues with that and now, i cannot use either keyboard not mouse and they are both USB.

I tried plugging in a couple wireless mice and nothing still.

I really need to find out what the heck is going on, this is my business computer and cannot loose my information so can someone please help?

I upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1, I seem to remember in roughly September 2015.  the system worked just fine for about a month.  then on October 31 2015 I try to turn the system on, and windows 10 tells me to not turn the system off while it finishes an upgrade.  a reboot later, and both the mouse and keyboard did not work at the sign in splash screen.  total incapacity to log in.  no option to have a safe boot offered.  seems to be the same issues as reported by others.  ie, both the mouse and keyboards work fine in bios, and multiple different mice and keyboards work.  but nothing works the moment that windows starts its sequence.

I talked with windows support, and they really did not offer any tools or other methods of getting to a recovery or safe mode boot.  no offer of a boot disk image, or any other tool to get to win10 to fix it.  just really a blanket statement from the tech that i could reinstall windows 8.1.  there were multiple insinuations from the tech that the issue is the mother board or the keyboard or the mouse manufacturer's issue.  but I question that, in that the failure occurred after a windows incremental update, prior to which the whole system was working fine.  even if there are driver problems, why should Microsoft not be responsible that they do not issue updates that break machines?

the outcome is that I am now doing a total reinstall of windows 8.1.  which is where I will be staying.  on top of that, I will now retrograde all of my other systems away from windows 10, as I cannot risk having total loss of functional machines simply because of faulty updates.  this will cost quite a bit of time.  it is too late for this install, as I have to have a functional machine, but if anybody has tools or methods to fix the problem, I'd be appreciative.

I tried that and nothing my mouse just works for sometime after i log off and login in works then the left click stops, i tried different mouse, format the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled drives qnd nothing
