As a long term user of Microsoft Money and now Money Sunset Delux I am keen to learn if the programme will still work on the imending Windows 10? I would be happy to resume paying for Money, as for me, this is the 'Killer App' which keeps me on the Windows platform. Does anyone esle out there still use Money? How can we get this fantastic Personnal Finance software continued? or, Have you found a realisticly alternative application?

Hi Simon

I am back from a work trip, and I played around with a few settings.  I can now get Money Sunset Edition to run in the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879.

I changed the Compatibility settings:

Good luck!

Nick

To resolve the error, try the following registry modifying:

    1. Open Registry Editor (RegEdit).
    2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
    3. In the right pane, look for Version registry value.
    4. Modify the value date to 9.11.10240.0.

Ok I must be really stupid, I have the Registry that says WOW6432Node but I am not seeing the \Microsoft\Internet Explorer part. Also I am not seeing Version, I just see "Name, Type, Data"  in the right hand pane. I have never done this but I am sure I can, if I can figure out what I am suppose to modify.

    Thanks in Advance

I had the same problem on the macine on which I am running the 32 bit version of Windows 10, whereas my laptop, which has the 64 bit version.  On the latter the registry was as described above. I resolved the 32 bit by changing the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

I modified this as above and Money is working OK.

"After much searching I have found this works for me

MS Money (MoneyDlxSunset) has worked with following registry change.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer]

    "Version"="9.11.10240.0"  (originaly: 9.11.10240.16384)

I'm not sure about side effect by this change. registry change is at own risk.

    • I have changed the Key and it worked!

Worth saying thanks to RajanDixit - if it is good for you.

This will work here are the steps to follow:

Right click on the windows icon on the bottom of your screen on the left.

Left click on run, type in (RegEdit) then click on OK

You need to scroll down on the left side until you find HKEY and click on this

Again on the left side scroll down until you find LOCAL then click on this

Scroll down as before until you find MACHINE then click on this

Scroll down as before until you find SOFTWARE then click on this

Scroll down as before until you find Wow6432Node then click on this

Scroll down as before until you find Microsoft then click on this

Scroll down as before until you find Internet then click on this

Scroll down as before until you find Explorer then click on this

In the right pane look for Version registry value 9.11.10240.16384 and click on this

Change the value in the pop up window to 9.11.10240.

You should be able to open Microsoft Money in Windows 10.

The Compatibility Mode properties option did not work for me .

    Good Luck

Slight glitch... "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" is one key, as is "Internet Explorer"
