Will Money Sunset work on Windows 10? or when will Money be relaunched?

As a long term user of Microsoft Money and now Money Sunset Delux I am keen to learn if the programme will still work on the imending Windows 10? I would be happy to resume paying for Money, as for me, this is the 'Killer App' which keeps me on the Windows platform. Does anyone esle out there still use Money? How can we get this fantastic Personnal Finance software continued? or, Have you found a realisticly alternative application?

Hi Simon

I am back from a work trip, and I played around with a few settings.  I can now get Money Sunset Edition to run in the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879.

I changed the Compatibility settings:

    Why would you need to restore from a backup file? My regular file worked just fine.

    How to make MS Money run on Windows 10

    as of 8/11/15

    The "Answer" by NickPullar on November 27, 2014 says to change the compatiblity setting. But does not give specific instructions on how to do that. I tried it and it didn't work.

    However the "Most Helpful Reply" by MarkItsmad on July, 19 2015 is much better except it too lacks detailed instructions for most people.

    So, if you have just installed the new free upgrade to Microsoft Windows 10 and your Microsoft (free for the download at: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20738 ) Money program does not work...

    1. RIGHT click on the new Windows icon (default location bottom left corner of your desktop)
    2. Click on "Run"
    3. Type "regedit" without the quotation marks and click on the OK button
    4. Tell the obnoxious User Account Control box "yes" you really want to risk screwing up your computer beyond belief
    5. On the left side of the registry editor navigate to:  Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer (if I have lost you, bail out now! Close the editor and get some help from a nerd.)
    6. In the right pane, look for "Version" registry value and double click on the word VERSION
    7. In the "Value Data:" block of the "Edit String" box that pops up, click at the end of the string.
    8. Backspace to erase the last set of digits "16384"
    9. Type a zero so that string now reads: "9.11.10240.0" without the quotation marks.
    10. Click the OK button.
    11. Close the registry editor
    12. Reboot the computer
    13. Open Money
    14. Restore your personal file from your back up file.

    If you don't have your backup file...., well, just forget the whole thing.

    UPDATE to original post:

    As of August 28 2015 I was finally able to roll back to Win 8.1, but the Windows 10 update did not allow me to within the 30 days they promised.  I had to go all the way back to factory settings and start over.  The change to the registry allowed Money to run, but not stay running.   I did NOT get the "dll" file referred to in previous and subsequent posts.

    Window 10 caused too many other issues, not just with Money.  I quit!
