As a long term user of Microsoft Money and now Money Sunset Delux I am keen to learn if the programme will still work on the imending Windows 10? I would be happy to resume paying for Money, as for me, this is the 'Killer App' which keeps me on the Windows platform. Does anyone esle out there still use Money? How can we get this fantastic Personnal Finance software continued? or, Have you found a realisticly alternative application?

Hi Simon

I am back from a work trip, and I played around with a few settings.  I can now get Money Sunset Edition to run in the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879.

I changed the Compatibility settings:

Good luck!

Nick

    1. You don't need to do that. That was for an OLD Money issue last year. the NEW Money solution is the next post down which was voted "Most Helpful".
    2. For future reference, compatibility can always be accessed by right-clicking on a program's icon to bring up the menu > Properties.
    3. The Level 2 tech support person is 100% wrong. The issue is literally just that Money can't handle a 5-digit number in the IE version string.

How did you change the settings? I cannot get Money to even load on Windows 10! I assume that in order to get to the compatibility settings Sunset has to be running? After loading Windows 10, I then tried to open Money and I got the error "Money will not load, need Explorer 6". What Explorer 6 has to do with it I do not know as I was using Explorer 11. Windows 10 I understand does not use Explorer but uses Edge.

As I mentioned in another post, I talked with Tech support for 2 hours and He passed me up to level 2 support. Level 2 told me that Money will not work with Edge so I should stay on Windows 7?

I talked with Microsoft tech support August 14. After loading Windows 10 Money would not work, it kept saying that it needed Explorer 6? After 2 hours of previous troubleshooting with Microsoft, their second contact told me to stay with Windows 7. As you probably know, their tech support is in India or someplace like that so I had a hard time understanding Him but He finished by telling me that the problem is that Windows 10 does not use Explorer!

He said that He would pass the problem "up the chain".

I asked Him "why in the hell would Microsoft issue a update that their own software will not work on".

The program on the Mac is called ibank, it is quite good, I use it on my iPad, if you have a Mac and an iPad they are synced together, most of the attributes are on the Mac version of it.

I reinstaled win 8.1 pro and my money program is running again, I couldn't get any help from Microsoft in resolving money and win 10, I am not fussy about quicken, so I have to decide if I want win 10 which I kind of like then quicken if Microsoft won't fix windows so money will run, or else dump my desktop and go with a Mac and ibank, neither choice will be easy.

if Microsoft fixes win 10 so that money will run then I will stay with them, I would think they could add a small program or whatever is needed as there are thousands of Us That use money and have been with them for years. I myself have been with Microsoft since they started. Will I stay I don't know, I have a year to decide, then I will have to choose if money doesn't work with win 10 then either win 10 and quicken or go to the Mac.
