Directplay on Windows 10

I can`t install DirectPlay .

When I tried to play Game in windows 10 it asked to install DirectPlay feature. I`ve clicked on 'install this feature' it went on searching for a few seconds & then showed an error 0x800FFFF. Every time I try same happening....

I don't think the guy who asked this question is a developer. he just want to run a old game. plus you didn't solve the Problem, DirectPlay can be easily turned on the program a features option >> Legacy >> DirectPlay

How do you enable Directplay in Windows 10? I tried to look up but failed.

Have you tried to enable it from the add/remove Windows features in the control panel?

I fixed this problem by temporarily disabling my antivirus, and then installing DirectPlay, and then restarting the game in question (Lords of the Realm II if you're curious). Nothing else seemed to work. It appears that something about DirectPlay is blocked by some kinds of antivirus software. Hopefully that helps!

I had to disable all of the shields on Avast Anti-virus in order to install DirectPlay. I hope this helps someone else.
