Directplay on Windows 10

When i manually check the box of Directplay, it asksk me to restart my computer.

when i do so, it reboots normally. However when my computer is turned back on directplay is deactivated again and i have to do it again, i can't get it to work.

******type the following into your windows search bar at the bottom left corner of the screen next to the start/windows icon:

"windows features" - turn on/off

open windows features.

scan the list for "legacy features"

open the expand (+) button to reveal "directplay"

check the box for "directplay"

allow windows to search for the required files and make changes

We both did this (me and the person asking this several posts above). :) There were others suggesting this (and of course, this is the way to have DIrectplay on window 10). The problem was that after the restart needed to complete the activation of Directplay the option was again disabled. There was a loop of errors. Directplay needed windows to restart and the restart deactivated Directplay. For me, only the reinstall worked. ;)

I believe that depends on what kind of installing kit you have. I bought an USB. You can also download it from Microsoft and follow the instructions. I'm not a system engineer/admin so I can't tell you all the steps you need to follow. I do the same. Boot the computer from the USB with Windows and follow those instructions.

I know some computers come with the Windows installing files already on them, on a separate partition. I may be wrong and if someone else is more familiar with this please correct me. You will also need to follow the instructions there. I believe you need to press F8 right after computer starts and you should find an option there that would say Install Windows (not sure, again... please correct me, someone. I never installed Windows this way :) ).

ps: make sure your version of Windows is legit.

that is my problem! if I go and turn on legacy components and directplay. it searches files says it needs a restart and when I log back in, directplay and legacy components are not activated. did you find a fix to this problem? Windows 10 is really pissing me off when I cant run old games I spent money on.
