Hi everyone: I'm Jon, a Program Manager with Microsoft who works on servicing Windows Media Center. I want to share an update with you about the EPG issues some of you are experiencing. Rovi is working with Microsoft directly on all Windows Media Center related issues. Our official path of support for WMC issues is to log a feedback report within the Microsoft Connect site ( https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145/Feedback ). Microsoft will triage the problems there, and report any lineup or data accuracy related issues to Rovi you. Note that you will need to login to the Connect site and link your MS account with to it for the link above to work properly. You can also go to http://connect.microsoft.com , sign in there, and navigate to the "Media Center Program Guide Data Feedback Home" site. There are a few problems with the data conversion that are known issues. We are working to resolve these as quickly as possible. **The issue regarding OTA channels not surfacing to the WMC guide is believed to be resolved.**Please run through your WMC setup (if necessary) and confirm if you now have the missing channels along with their corresponding guide data. If you continue to have issues please open a ticket with Microsoft in the Connect application. Microsoft will work directly with Rovi on any further issues you might be having. Series recordings problems. We believe we have identified the problem and Microsoft and Rovi are working towards the best solution. At this time we don’t have an estimate on when this will be fixed. Cable card lineups not displaying the HD channels. Microsoft and Rovi are working on a long term solution. In the meantime a work around has been implemented for customers with Cablevision/Optimum lineups and you should expect to receive the HD channels within 24-48 hours from 7/23. Looks pretty much the same as WinTV7 other than inclusion of a signal strength indicator. I was able to download one of those as a separate gadget from Hauppauge. Can you fast forward or reverse? On mine the directional buttons only work to jump ahead 30 seconds or 60 seconds or reverse 10 seconds or 60 seconds. When you restart a program you had been watching, there is no option to resume from where you left off. You have to click randomly on the green bar trying to get to the right place. Seems like a real oversight but perhaps has been fixed in versions newer than mine.

Silverwire I use my computer and watch television similarly to what you detail. I bought my Dell computer in January of 2008 so possibly I have the later version of Vista you mention. Dell included the reinstallation cd's for the OS, Drivers and Utilities, and I have had to make use of them several times. The WinTV application (as I currently have it) allows reducing the screen size to small, medium, or full screen, but doesn't always re-size infinitely by dragging the corner as does WMC. It can be docked where you like. You can also use the Picture-in-Picture feature to keep an eye on a different channel (if you have a dual tuner) or watch a video file you have elsewhere on your computer, albeit without sound. I don't know if you have the Aero visual package, but I believe that is the feature that will provide a postage stamp sized view of television or video you have minimized to the task bar when you hover your cursor there. How well the captioning works I guess depends on the program. With WinTV the sound is not automatically cut when you select captions, nor do captions automatically start when you press mute. I haven't posted at the Green Button but I did make a report of the epg problem at Microsoft Connects. I am of the opinion that Microsoft owes us a patch for this EPG problem, as our operating systems are supposedly still supported. I think it is unfortunate that Microsoft won't support its products more than a few years. Many people do not have the income or even any desire, to be buying everything new every few years.

I have the latest version WinTV8 33135

Are you using the latest version of WinTV? I am using version 2 and not sure if it works correctly because of my computer not being up to date. I am able to schedule repeat recordings but have to input it all manually. When I get my OS installed correctly I will probably go back to using WMC, even with the EPG problem.

I do use Titan TV, but it will not let you set up to record a complete series.
