Please reread my post. My company does NOT support VPN using Windows 8.1. I installed Windows 7 because my company does NOT support VPN using Windows 8.1.
Why are we forced to update to 8.1?

I know my voice won't be heard but I must vent.
Who gives them the right to force a download on MY computer that I purchased.
I resent this and feel violated. I am done. No more.
Maybe start treating customers with respect in the future?

2014-11-24T13:32:21+00:00 Why they don't support 8.1 isn't the issue. The issue is that Microsoft forced the update without our permission - the first time that this has ever been done, to my knowledge. Installing Windows 7 guarantees that I won't face this problem again.

2014-11-24T15:16:33+00:00 I wouldn't call it forced. I haven't seen any proof so far the update to Windows 8.1 has become a mandatory update. I've just seen that the reminders become more frequent as you keep putting off the update. You can always turn off automatic updates in Windows and skip it completely. I would not recommend this as it leaves your computer vulnerable to bugs/exploits but that's your choice.

As for whether or not the update to 8.1 was done without my permission, I can only tell you what I experienced. From reading this blog, it is apparent that others have shared this experience.
