This is exactly why it is totally idiotic for MS to stop supporting the use of secdrv.sys on the grounds of 'security'.
They are actually ensuring the infection of tens of thousands if not more of machines world wide.
I also find it interesting that I get the choice of securing my files with EFS or backing them up with File History, but not both. So I can secure my computer so no one can use my files and lose all my data at the same time or I can back them up so both the thieves and I get a copy. Bitlocker will not work properly on my machine as it has no TPM (or between my multiple machines and multiple backups) and I will not use full drive encryption anyway as this is a recipe to lose everything. EFS even broke my traditional backup software that uses Shadow Copy.
It took months to discover the FH stopped backing up all my files, nice of it to not even bother to give me an error message.
Typical MS cludges. Everything done half way. Permanent Beta software.
Never listen to customers either as far as I have seen.
Skype is another typical example. No way to block spam contact requests no matter what your security settings and no response ever since MS bought the software. Probably cut development to the bone to save money.
So my guess is we can all hold our breaths until we turn blue, load our computers with unsecure software, or re-buy our favourite games. MS will never listen to us.
