I just found the issue for me. The program RGB Fusion from Gigabyte caused my games to minimize every 30-60 minutes. I'd suggest uninstalling that program if you got it. It will most likely fix the issue.
Windows 10 minimizing any games automatically at random times
Hi,
Since I installed Windows 10, all my games minimize at random times, I don't have anything else open. It happens with Steam games, as well as games not in steam, like Guild Wars 2 for example. It is so annoying, sometimes I am playing PvP tournament and the game minimize :(
This is happening in all games that I have installed right now:
-Terraria (steam)
-MKX (steam)
-Guild Wars 2
Also I found out that is not happening just in games, sometimes while I am browsing the internet too. I use Chrome to browse.
Did some research on the internet and I found some solutions, but none did work for me. What I did so far and didn't work:
-Disabled Internet Explorer 11 (Edge?).
-Set my Nvidia GPU to single display performance.
-Deactivated Windows Defender.
-Deactivated OneDrive.
My previous version of windows was 8.1, and I never had this issue before. It is only happening since I upgraded to windows 10. Also, to make it clear, the installation was clean, only files/documents were saved from 8.1. to 10. The rest I installed my self, like steam, the games I mentioned above and my GPU drivers.
Please help.

2019-02-09T17:41:58+00:00 This did not help on the issue , for me anyway , but then again i never understood why Microsoft and windows products need to go on tablets and smart phones , widows 10 has som fancy functions but really its should only be a operating system for computers , not smart phones or tablets

2019-02-02T18:36:37+00:00 It has been 4 years and this issue still isn't fixed. I tried every single thing possible on the internet and NOTHING works. I might as well sell my stupid gaming PC as Microsoft is incapable of fixing this one issue thousands of people have.

2019-01-24T05:56:38+00:00 I found the culprit in my case. My full-screen games kept minimizing at 30-40 minute intervals, and always twice in a row (about 2-3 sec apart). Usually right after I would click to maximize, it would minimize again. This cycle kept repeating (to my extreme frustration.. nothing like being in Battlefield and have your screen minimize right at a critical moment!).
The offender in my case was the "Akamai Netsession" services I had running in the background (loaded when Windows loads). Some SaaS platforms use this utility (i.e. Adobe CC Cloud, Autodesk, etc.) My task manager showed 2 separate instances running. Once I killed these, the issue stopped. Now made sense why my games would minimize twice in a row. I suppose the utility is set to pole something, however doing so takes exclusive control of the active desktop (whereby minimizing your game).
It's a little tricky killing them, as when killing one instance it is loaded back again by the other. So you have to be quick about it. I have reported this issue to Akamai, but I doubt they care.
Hope this helps others!
