Anyone know what CompatTelRunner.exe is/does?

Compattelrunner.exe should first check if the system's hardware is compatible with Windows 10. One system I have cannot upgraded to either Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 because the CPU requires PAE, NX, and SSE2 (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/system-requirements)

• but Comapttelrunner.exe keeps checking the system over and over.

Yes, this is a really old system but it runs Windows 7 & the apps on it really well. It will disappear when the hardware finally goes on it. I have Windows 10 on other systems so please just check the Win10 HW requirements before having Compattelrunner.exe execute.

That is BS. Win 10 is pure manure. Don't assume. It makes an S of U and ME.

Also, MS censors your post with code that eliminates negative words such as C-R-A-P or A-S-S, etc. ... If you'll NOTICE, I had to re-edit and alter my statement.

I have a friend who didn't understand all the objections to personal security surrounding The Cloud, Windows 10 etc.

I asked him to pick a name of a person he knows and we would do a Google search to see what the results would be.

Here were details we picked up within 10 minutes:

Her married name and maiden name.

The names of her parents and siblings with links to check them out.

Her full address including a Google map to her doorstep.

Her education level and schools attended. (almost accurate)

Who she is employed by

The value of her home.

Her husbands information with links to check them out.

Her in-laws names with links to check them out.

Facebook address

Twitter address

From there we could then proceed to connect to and collect information on any of those

names included in above fact finding search.

All this in 10 minutes.

We all hear reports that Fraud, Internet Fraud and Identity Theft are fast becoming the #1

crime of the century.  Business's have been founded solely for the purpose of 'claiming'

protection against these crimes. 

Meanwhile at the same time, a cloud based internet and operating systems are

making it so much easier for the very existence of these crimes to flourish.

Information that should not be readily available to even the Police or Policing Agencies without a search

warrant is becoming available within a few keystrokes.

Never in our history has there been such an invasion of personal privacy so readily available without

any sensible restrictions nor with our permissions. Never in our history has anyone, with or without special judicial powers been able to freely invade personal information. 

Our hard copy mail is protected under stringent laws for our privacy and protection but now every email, letter, picture, correspondence we exchange or write is subject to being held and stored on what we call the 'Cloud', as we type.

We have in the guise of 'sharing' between units and the advantages of such, given up all our rights to privacy,

security and safety.

The COST of this direction is yet to be understood nor is the Cloud Phenomenon even understood by a large

percentage of the population. 

Saying, "I don't save anything to the Cloud" is a statement I hear often and is NOT true. It just means that you

don't deliberately save anything to the Cloud BUT does not mean you do not unknowingly contribute your information, data, pictures, etc whenever you are online. You are simply not aware it is happening.

Other examples:

I recently attended a funeral of a family friend.  On the Funeral Home website I offered my condolences.

I Googled myself yesterday and there is was, my condolence message and a link to take me to the Funeral Home Condolence page.

Minor infringement but nevertheless it was NOT with my permission**.**

Google also linked me to a Bylaw Complaint I filed a couple weeks ago regarding a neighbor, with the City I live in.

Sure enough, Google took me to their website and displayed my complaint verbatim, including all details.

So much for expectation of a private correspondence between a resident and a City Official.
