New MSN homepage not loading slideshows

I am running windows 8 and was converted to the new MSN homepage. The page itself loads just fine. However, for articles that are slideshows, the main images do not show up. I can see the entire article page and even the thumbnails. The main picture screen remains blacked out. I can not click the thumbnails and there are no arrows to advance the show. I do not see that the page is waiting on any items to load. The box for the image loads, just remains blacked out with thumbnails on the bottom of the box.

I have tried open MSN on both IE10 and google chrome.

As I've said, the page loads correctly, I can even go to the source of the article and view the slideshow on their webpage just fine.

I have no problems with videos or text articles. I thought maybe it was pop- up blockers, etc. but turned them off and restarted with no luck.

Any ideas why only articles with slideshows do not work?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Community. Sorry to hear that slideshows of MSN Homepage not appearing correctly.

Sometimes websites don't look like you expect them. This might be caused by a compatibility problem between Internet Explorer and the site you're on.

Open the website in Compatibility View. Once you turn on Compatibility View, Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by removing it from your compatibility list.

Fix site display problems with Compatibility View.

I'm still having the same problem and I think I'm just going have to use a different web page.

For a comprehensive list of alternative home pages to My MSN, Microsoft Community MVP Bruce Hagen provided this link to a very helpful site.

Personally, I've returned to My Yahoo. It has all the customization and personalization features of the old My MSN. In short, you can choose your own content with My Yahoo, from weather, sports scoreboard, calendar, MY FAVORITES (called bookmarks) and stocks as well as RSS feeds, either from their menu of selections, or you can add your own URL's to RSS feeds, such as your local newspapers.

Of the others on the list, I've only really checked out ustart.org and I found it very easy to set up. Various people in these threads have had success with ighome.com, protopage.com or netvibes.com.

    I hope this helps.

I have the same issue using the latest version of firefox on both my work (Windows 7) and home (windows 8.1) devices. tried using latest version of ie with and without compatibility mode. my home machine is a gaming one so I  keep it up with the latest active x, flash, java, shockwave versions etc. none of the suggested solutions seem to make any difference. If you have a discovered a real fix please update us.

I have the same problem under Windows 7 Professional.

    How do I fix it?

In the mean time, I too have switched to Yahoo.com for most uses.
