How do you get CFS3 to run with Windows 10?
CFS3 did run with Windows 8 and 8.1 but will NOT run with Windows 10.
How do you fix this?

I have just upgraded to windows10 from windows7 where I had a fully working copy. I have done nothing to the installation, and am interested to find out what you did to get it to work. Could you please help with some info on what to do?

Jim: You have to run the "Program Compatability Troubleshooter". You can select the previous Windows OS, such as Windows XP, Service Pack 2 or 3. You also can see how other CFS3 gamers have fixed problems by using one or more websites for CFS3 gamers.

Slowhand818: Thank you for your reply. I have all versions of CFS3 except OFF. ETO will only work with separate installs for each ERA 1-5. Windows 10 required a different fix to get it to work. After fixing each CFS3 version I ran cfs3config. Microsoft's information did not help.
have had cfs3,eto, Mediterranean Air war and over Flanders fields working in windows 10, but recently they stopped working. if you ran cfs3config or the game exe it just crashes with the really helpful "it has stopped working" message. I stumbled into the fix by accident but it does work. For some reason after a security update, Microsoft have blocked the exe from working from within program files (x86) ( I can't speak for 32 bit machines) No matter what compatibility settings you use it crashes. The fix: copy the whole cfs3 directories to the root directory. so that I now have c:\Microsoft games\cfs 3 etc. You still need to run it in compatibility mode, but it will work with no problems. For CFS3 ETO and Over Flanders Fields, there is a little more work to do, to change the paths in the bat files and in the registry, but its pretty easy to find them. Then for now at least the game is working again. Why Microsoft want to make it so difficult to run their own game I will never know!!!! No doubt they will block this route next but it will be as successful as their lame attempt to block classic shell in windows 10. Long live freedom of choice!
