Windows Update KB2952664 constantly failing on configure.

Hello

For a long time I am fighting with update KB2952664 installation. First time when I ran in to the problems I just hid it as it was optional but now I need it to reserve my copy of Windows 10 (this update is required to run GWX tool which is now not working on my system).

As for the KB2952664 it is constantly failing on the configuration screen after the reboot with the error code 80044015. Windows is automatically reverting the changes than.

I have tried quite a few suggestions found on the internet (like SFC repair etc.) but without any luck. By the way, this update was failing even on a clean Windows 7 installation as I reinstalled my system not long ago and this was the only KB that I was unable to install so it seems that the problem is not related to any software or configuration change on my Windows.

Blow I zipped CBS log and windows update log:

WindowsUpdate.log

http://1drv.ms/1AOsYsD

Is there anyone who can advice on this problem?

Is there a possibility to reserve a Windows 10 copy without GWX tools so I will not need to install this problematic KB?

    1. In Windows Explorer [WinKey+E], navigate to & right-click on:
    • **C:\Program Files**Avira <=this folder

    Select PROPERTIES: What's the CREATED date displayed on the resulting GENERAL tab?

    1. KB2952664 is no longer being offered via Windows Update, is that correct? [1]
    2. Is KB2977759 listed in Installed Updates and if so, when (exact date) was it installed?
    3. Do you have backups of ALL the changes CCleaner's Registry Cleaner component has EVER made to the computer? [2]

    ===========================================================

    [1] Over the past 24 hours or so, several others have reported that KB2952664 is no longer being offered via Windows Update at the moment. MS may have "pulled" the update, possibly only temporarily. YMMV

    [2] Injudicious use of registry cleaners may be playing a role here. TIP: If you ever again think your Registry needs to be cleaned, repaired, boosted, tuned-up, cured, tweaked, fixed, maximized, "swept" or optimised (it doesn't), read this article (and related links cited therein) then draw your own conclusions. 2. Yes, correct, KB2952664 is not offered by the windows update. It is also not installed.

    3) KB2977759 is not installed.

    1. I do not have backups of CCleaner changes but KB2952664 was failing even before CCleaner was installed on my system.

    If KB2952664 is pulled back how to reserve a copy of Windows 10 than?

    This is the only reason why I want to install KB2952664.

    After you did the clean install of Win7 on 04 May 2015, how long was the computer connected to the internet before you got Avira Free installed on 05 May 2015 shortly after 8:00 PM (your local time)?

    Did you install any updates before you got Avira Free installed on 05 May 2015?

    Were Windows Defender and Windows Firewall both enabled before you got Avira Free installed on 05 May 2015?

    =====================================================

    We can only assume that Windows Update will start offering KB2952664 again very soon.

    As of this post, KB3035583, KB2952664 and KB2990214 are the Prerequisite Win7 updates in order to be offered the free upgrade to Win10. Since the upgrade won't become available until 29 July 2015 (and even then, it might not be offered to your computer until sometime in August or later), you've got plenty of time to get KB2952664 et al. installed.

    TIP: No need to be "the first on your block" here. Let others be Microsoft's guinea pigs & re-evaluate the possibility of upgrading to Win10 later this year or early next year!

    After clean windows installation computer waw always connected to the internet. I installed all drivers using "Lenovo System Update" and than installed all updates from WIndows Update except KB2952664 as it was failing. Avira was installed after installing all KBs. Windows firewall was enabled as by default. I did not enabled Windows Defender manually after installation.

    As for the second part I do not want to be first in line to be honest but I presume that without KB2952664 I will not be able to Upgrade to Windows 10 at all so I want to resolve this problem in advance.

    Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload the file to your OneDrive, share with everyone and post a link here. Reports in normal mode preferred. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

    Please upload and share with everyone fresh copies of your System log and your Application log (two files) from your Event Viewer to your One Drive and post a link here. You can remove any earlier copies of the logs from your OneDrive.

    To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting Action from the menu. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.
