Learn more about the new features in MyWatchlist by clicking here: My Watchlist: FAQ

You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

If you need more details about the steps, please go to this article.

If you are still having difficulties or would like to report any errors, please reply to this thread.

Thank you!

Please check out my other post on December 5th which has links to more recent portfolio manager reviews.

I still havent checked out the other portfolio managers.  Its time to move my ****.

Thanks, TW. Yes, looks like it's time to investigate these other sites, before the Portfolio Manager carriage turns into a pumpkin! Microsoft isn't even bothering to reply to these posts anymore - they know what people think of the move and that there's nothing they intend to do about it.

    That method might be useful.

I have not found a way to export the original Portfolio into Excel, or into .csv format.

I did not export from PM to Excel.  I had always put all my transactions on my Excel and separately onto PM so I had the home records of transactions just to be safe and to make a printed copy, since that seems to be lacking in the old PM.  Now I did export the Old PM to the New MSN Watchlist and opened my transaction pages and printed each page by highlighting the page and then going to "File" and Print Preview and "Selected portion". Then I printed that out to see where the mistakes were....that is when I noticed that all the transactions dates were off by one day!   I could have done it on the old PM by copy & paste method too.  You would Still have to put it all in excel by hand.  It was saved to the .csv format only to export to Morning Star from Excell.  Hope that helps clear it up.

Thank you for that tip.  The copy and paste did work.

I will likely be using less of Microsoft’s products, so I made another copy using Open Office.

I am leaving tomorrow.  After Dec 24, this template will give me something to work with.  It may be possible to make my own Portfolio summary each month.  Looks like it will be a lot of work to do.

Best Wishes to everyone; hope you find a solution to the Portfolio situation.

The reason all the data is not migrating is because the Activity categories under TRANSACTIONS (Type) in My Watchlist are missing some of the "Activity" categories for transactions in Money Portfolio Mgr. e.g. Reinvest Long-Term Capital Gains, Reinvest Short-term Capital Gains, Long-Term Capital Gains, Short-Term Capital Gains, Add Shares etc. There are 4 more Transaction Types or "Activity" [Types] (as Money PM denotes) that are missing under TRANSACTION Types in My Watchlist, but the ones I specified are the most critical for me. These are not linked to the TRANSACTION Types in My Watchlist  so that's why some of the data is not migrating.

Please COMPARE & you will see there are 18 Transaction Types [Activity] in Money PM v only 9 Transaction Types in My Watchlist. Once this is accounted for, either through increasing the # of Transaction Types in My Watchist or some other way, i.e. counting these Types of Gains as Dividends, that will reconcile the disparity.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE WORK THESE BUGS OUT BEFORE YOU SHUT DOWN MONEY PORTFOLIO MANAGER! THIS IS UTTERLY DOABLE.! THANK YOU.

Thanks, this may explain why each of my separate Watchlist portfolios have incorrect share balances.

At the top of each page is the statement “Some transactions in this portfolio are invalid.’

The invalid transactions are not labeled, so I think they are simply missing.

Now going to the airport, I will not have time to work with this until after Dec 25.  At that time, the Portfolio will be gone.  It has all those transactions.

It is a terrible thing, a serious mistreatment of MSN Portfolio users.
